WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases item level by 3. A random substat is also boosted alongside every upgrade.
The more modernized gear generally has a greater value for trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or very high stat variation (like the eth titan weapons). Upgrades are not as useful for those with lower requirements due to the requirement to roll the perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create the enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in every major city, and can be visited at any time to upgrade your equipment. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader each couple of weeks.
Upgrades will cost more depending on the level of the item however they'll always be less expensive than purchasing new gear. For instance upgrading a Benthic chest piece to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item from a different player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase tools, armor, weapon and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them from item upgraders NPCs in a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any weapon, tool, or armor. button, which will show an image of the item at its next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.
Upgrade costs differ based on the item slot, and the current level of the item level upgrade (you could check here). For example weapons cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with some upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of Flightstones or the crests used. Once an Best item upgrader is upgraded to a certain amount and is degraded, it can be sold and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currency types.
Upgraders for items can be found in a variety of locations, including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon and the possibility of getting a new recipe. The upgrade discount increases according to the number of items that are being upgraded. It can also be increased by requiring players to complete specific achievements or complete quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. Instead, the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades require several methods, which is both an improvement and a drawback.
In Season 3, the upgrade system was modified a bit, and several new features added. After an upgrade has been completed to a specific level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level, will cost less. This is true even if the items come from an entirely different set of gear.
The discount is applicable to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players reach certain milestones in their achievement.
Crests
When upgrading equipment in WoW players have a couple of options. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more special, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.
First, you should know that crests are only available for gear of a certain rank. Each rank comes with an upgrade path that is different. The simplest and simplest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, based on the kind of equipment that is being upgraded.
Players can obtain crests by completing content of the appropriate level, whether that means walking around and doing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of all difficulties for higher-tier items or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for endgame gear. These crests can be exchanged with an item upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and routes.
Utilizing these new currencies isn't too difficult however, the system will introduce a few modifications to the upgrade process. Once a piece of gear attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it no longer requires Flightstones. This allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest level possible on all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.
It's also essential to use crests wisely, as they have only one purpose. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the top-quality equipment you can locate, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is particularly relevant for items like trinkets and rings that fill multiple slots. The account-wide discount will only apply when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
