World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades are a way to boost the stats of an item. Depending on the upgrade type it could increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity and boost additional stats.
Upgrading gear in The War Within requires a certain number of Flightstones and Crests and each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a set amount.
Item Level
When an item gets upgraded, its basic stats improve in value. The value is the sum of all of an item's leveled-up perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive, depending on who you hire and what you decide to do. This is due to how many perks need to be replaced to allow the item to be upgraded.
Item level is a commonly used measurement of power and can be found on all tooltips for items. It is also used to limit how much PvP gear players are able to wear since PvP is not available at lower levels. The average level of an item can be found in the character sheet.
When deciding whether to buy or sell equipment, players can compare the item upgrading level. It's a useful gauge of an item's worth and the amount of damage it is able to deal. Comparing items in a vendor's stock can be done using the item's level.
The item level can be checked by pressing the ALT key on PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will show the full item description, including its value. It can also be found by hovering over an item using the mouse cursor and entering /itemlevel into chat.
There are many theories about the method by which the level of an item is determined. One theory is that the item level is a numerical value derived from a formula that calculates the amount an item upgrader mod's stats are worth. It considers the fact that different perks have different worth and gems in sockets increase the item's overall value. This process can result in a calculated value for the item's level, which is usually quite close to Blizzard's real item level.
This is not the only factor that affects the value of an item. The degree of the area in which the item dropped can also change its stats. For instance it can add a level to the item's haste or crit score. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have more the ilvl than items from lower level instances.
Item Stats
The stats of an item can determine the fate of an item for players. The game uses a lot of them in a variety of ways to encourage players to play with multiple weapons, and prevent one weapon from being "the most effective." The stats of a base weapon are boosted by the weapon's stat modification that are in turn boosted by the player's level.
Upgrades to the item add by boosting certain stats on the item. The rarity of an item determines its cost of upgrading. For example, a grey or white item will only be upgraded once, while an item with rare tiers can be upgraded many times at higher prices.
Affixes are a different method to alter the stats of an item. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and come in a variety of shapes and sizes. The affixes can be used to give items additional damage, special capabilities (such as reviving dead or reducing cooling downs) or to make them unique by putting a name on them.
At present, all affixes can be modified by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button, which is accompanied by circling arrows. This will cost a certain amount in gold and items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges similar to other methods of rerolling.
Players can choose to upgrade an item by a specific stat or reroll the affixes. The range of stats determined by the item's level. However every item will have at least one stat in the same range, unless it's an item that is unique, or an item that has a God Roll from a boss in a raid.
Another thing that can be modified by introducing an option to upgrade the equipment without rolling the affixes, or selecting which stats to enhance. However, as with the base equipment, this would have to be carried out on a per-item basis and the interface for comparing items would not display all the possible stats gained or lost at once.
Item Luck
The Luck stat for a player adds up to increase the chances of finding items as well as the properties that appear on loot drops, and the intensity of those properties. However, it does not directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It provides players with the chance to upgrade gear earlier in the game. This is particularly useful in early game runs because players tend to put defenses and weapon scaling over raw damage gains.
Luck can also boost the likelihood of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chance which increases with each level and can be further increased by using an anti-material, such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.
The shields, armor, and weapons have an initial Luck value of 40. These items can be improved by using golden ingots or spined leather (depending on their material type) for a further +40 luck or to boost the Luck of an item up to 140.
Certain items, such as the weapon with Hollow-infused components, can also be equipped to increase the damage dealt by any ability that deals damage by 5percent. These items can be purchased in the shops or made with the right ingredients.
item upgrader Failure
Item upgrades are a costly process and not all upgrades will be successful. However, there are cash shop items that allow players to increase their chance of success or stop them from losing an item if the upgrade is unsuccessful.
When you upgrade an item, the success rate is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of successfully upgrading that item and can be enhanced by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The percentage of success can only be increased as much, and the chance that an upgrade will fail can't exceed 100%.
The success of an item can be affected by the luck of the item. Every item has an overall success rate of 25%, and each item that has Luck increases this chance by five percent.
The upgrade overlays for items are rendered above the items in the inventory. This may cause obscurity to enchantment effects or other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
