top rated robot vacuum (page) Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum is able to keep floors clean enough to reduce the frequency at which you need to manually vacuum. Find one that has good navigation, can clean stairs and corners, and has a large dust bin that needs emptying only once in a while.

There are models that can mop and charge themselves, which is a feature essential for families with pets or children. Many of the best automatic vacuum cleaner performers in our tests have great obstacle avoidance.

1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO and its i3 EVO sibling the i3 EVO are the same robots, but they differ in that the i3+ comes with self-emptying features. The i3+ is an excellent option for those looking for a a fully automated, hands-off cleaning experience but are willing to manually empty the dust bin once it gets full.

Both robots do well picking up surface debris off hard floors and carpets, and they are very good in moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates intelligent maps of your home that help the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean smart robot in a manner that maximizes efficiency. However unlike the i7+ or other top-rated robots that we tested, the i3+ doesn't have obstacle-avoidance capabilities, so it may get stuck on things such as socks or power cords and it can have difficulty navigating across surface transitions, such as from hardwood to carpet.

iRobot suggests cleaning up the area where the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or clutter it might come across. It's also an excellent idea to keep the dustbin and filter clean so they aren't clogged by dirt. If the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or the battery is empty it will return to its docking station, automatically empties its dirt into the station's external dustbin, and then continues cleaning where it began. The battery's lifespan is around an hour-and-a-half of continuous usage. It takes about three hours to charge.

2. IRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line, and it comes with the most expensive robot vacuum recent features. It has self-charging and self-navigating. But the most significant feature is its self-emptying bin. This eliminates the need for regular maintenance.

The Roomba I7+ is able to make rooms more efficient maps using Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and you can control your robot through the app or voice.

The i7+ is more efficient and more maneuverable in our tests compared to the eufy RoboVac G30. It also cleaned large pet hair pieces from all surfaces, including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy, though it self-empties its dust bin that removes a major source of maintenance and lowers the cost of maintenance.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services, which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning session and to move around the room, and even vacuum an area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and easy with the iRobot Home app. Once connected we were able to give the i7+ voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and evaluating performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is a sports car in a world of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It is powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, yet it is also small enough to fit on a coffee table or bookcase.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery that produces continuous, non-fading power for 60 minutes. Its sophisticated whole-machine filtration system traps allergens and releases clean air back into your home. The specially designed head utilizes stiff nylon bristles that penetrate deep into carpets, and then pick up large crumbs or fine dust. It has three suction modes to suit the task at hand. It is able to quickly switch from floor vacuum to handheld vacuum, and vice versa.

The model also comes with a dock that charges to 100% in 3.5 hours, and gives users an easy access to two attachments and an clip for a wand. This is a huge improvement over earlier Dysons that require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.

The V10's main drawback is its limited run time. The tests conducted by CR show that its advertising claims of up to 60 minutes are a bit misleading. This is a standard, not exceptional, battery-powered vacuum's run time. This is still enough to get rid of the majority of a typical-sized home but not long enough to cover every spot (though an additional run-through often will suffice). This model has its own advantages however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than older Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is noticeable superior on carpets with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694"

The 694 is a standard robot vacuum that's a great choice for those who don't have lots of money to invest in an expensive robot. It was able to pick up all kinds of debris and sizes during our testing and often went over the same area multiple times for an extensive clean. Its flat front end helps to get into corners and along the edges of walls, which is a nice addition.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt technology to avoid obstacles and guide you through your home. It's not equipped with the capabilities for mapping of more advanced models, including our top picks, i3+EVO and J7+ Series. It is prone to getting stuck on phone cords or low furniture and often runs out of power before returning to its original location.

The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694 because it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning, is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, has a lower cost of recurring costs and is more sophisticated in its automation capabilities and is better able to maneuver itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and is charged faster.

The eufy RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba. It also has physical boundaries strips that can be controlled with the voice assistant on your smartphone. It is also more durable, has a stronger motor, and is more effective on floors with bare or low-pile.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a well-known brand in the field of home electronics. It's not surprising that they are also among the top producers of robot vacuums and mop. Jet Bot AI+ has the most advanced onboard technology to navigate and avoid obstacles.

The app offers a wide range of options for customizing your robotic cleaner. These include virtual barriers, mopping levels and behavior customizations docking frequency settings and many more. The app is easy to navigate and use as are other Samsung devices.

In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and it removed 86% of dog hair (on carpet). It did not do well in avoiding taller objects like socks or cords. This was disappointing. It's also a bit more expensive than some of the other models we tried which could be a deal-breaker for certain shoppers.

The app lets you access the camera onboard of the smart vacuum. You can also set up live streaming from the robot's area of cleaning. This feature lets you check in on pets or the kids if you're away from home. The dustbin and the filter can be cleaned to ensure the quick and easy cleaning. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with an automatic clean station which helps keep the bin clean and maximizes suction power.

6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum

Black and Decker robots have been developed specifically for flooring made of hard wood. They come with a wide cleaning path and a larger dustbin that holds 2X more debris than competitors to keep the area clean for the longest time. In addition, they have two side sweepers that clean up around edges and in corners. The POWERSERIES model includes AutoSense that automatically adjusts the power level depending on whether it's picking up dirt on the surface or embedded dirt. It also includes a smart application that lets you see the virtual map and control functions and schedules. You can also monitor the status of the vacuum and connect it to the dock for charging with the touch of a single button. The app also lets you to customize the LED lights on the top of the vacuum by using different colors so you can clearly see what areas it's focusing on or where it's gotten stuck.

The app makes it possible to steer the robot manually, if necessary. For instance my living room rug has a darkly colored border that can cause confusion for other robots I've tried. However, the HRV 425BL kept moving across the border, but it didn't register it as a cliff. The ability to program a cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving benefit.
