Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot remote vacuum cleaner (simply click the next document) will keep your floors clean enough to reduce the frequency of manual hoovering. Find one that has an easy navigation, can clean corners and stairs and also has a large dust bin that needs emptying only every few times.
There are models that can mop and charge themselves this is an option important for families with pets or children. The top performers in our tests offer decent obstacle-avoiding capabilities.
1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO
The i3+ EVO and its i3 EVO sibling, the i3 EVO, are identical robots, but they differ in that the i3+ has self-emptying features. This makes the i3+ a great choice for people who want a hands-off, fully automated cleaning experience, but don't mind taking the time to empty their robot's trash bin when it fills up.
Both robots excel at picking up surface debris on carpets and hard floors and they are very good in moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home to aid the i3+ in its navigation and clean efficiently. However unlike the i7+ or other top-rated robots we evaluated the i3+ doesn't have any obstacle-avoidance features which means it can get stuck on things like socks or power cords and it may have trouble traversing transitions across surfaces, such as from hardwood to carpet.
iRobot suggests cleaning the area around the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or other items it may encounter. It's also a good idea to keep the dust bin and filter clean so they don't become clogged with dirt. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station and automatically emptys the dirt into the docking station’s external dustbin. Then it continues cleaning where it started. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for approximately an hour and a half continuous use, and it takes around three hours to recharge.
2. iRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model in the iRobot flagship line, and it has the most up-to-date features. It's self-charging and self-navigating. But the most important feature is its auto-emptying bin. This removes the need for regular maintenance.
The Roomba I7+ is able to better map rooms with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and control your robot using voice or through the app.
The i7+ is more efficient and more maneuverable in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from any surface including carpeting. Its greatest advantage over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin, which eliminates the main sources of maintenance and reduces recurring cost.
We were also awestruck by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilized these services to instruct the robot on how to begin or stop cleaning sessions and also to move around the room and to vacuum a particular area. Connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and straightforward using the iRobot Home app. When connected, we were able to use the i7+'s voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and monitoring performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
In a world filled with cordless vacs that feel like minivans or buses, this small Dyson model feels like a sports car. It is powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, but it is also compact enough to fit on the bookcase or coffee table.
The V10 is powered with seven cells of energy-dense Lithium-ion batteries that produces power that is not fading for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filter system traps allergens, then releases fresh air into your home. Its specialized head uses stiff nylon bristles to penetrate into carpets, and then pick up large crumbs or fine dust. It has three suction modes to match the task being performed. It quickly switches from handheld to floor vacuum and back.
This model comes with a dock that can charge the Dyson to 100 percent in 3.5 hours. It also provides the ability to connect two attachments as well as a Wand. This is a huge improvement over older Dysons which require a long charge and are difficult to store.
The main drawback of the V10 is its short running time. Its claims on the market that it has up to 60 minutes of running time are a bit misleading as CR's tests have shown. This is a typical, not an exceptional, time for an electric cordless vacuum powered by batteries. It's enough time to clean a typical-sized home, but not enough to get into every corner. (A second time usually works). This model has its own advantages however: it's light and more maneuverable than older Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is noticeable superior for carpet floors with low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694
The 694 is a basic robotic vacuum that's a great option for those who don't have a lot of money to invest in an expensive robot. It was able to pick up most types of debris and sizes during our testing and often went over the same area many times to give a thorough clean. Its flat front allows it to reach corners and edges of walls.
Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate around your home, but it's not equipped with the mapping capability of more advanced models like our top selections such as the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. It can get stuck on phone cords or furniture and will often run out of power before returning to its original location.
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in many ways in that it has fewer components that require regular maintenance It also comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, incurs lower costs for recurring maintenance, has more advanced automation capabilities and is more efficient in moving itself. It also has a bigger dustbin, and charges more quickly.
The elegant RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for a variety of reasons, since it has a better battery life, has the ability to alter its suction power mode on its own, comes with physical boundary strips, and is operated by your phone's voice assistant. It also feels better-built and has a more powerful motor, and is able to perform better on bare floors and carpets with low pile, while providing a greater variety of automation options.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a brand you see on all sorts of home electronics It's no surprise that they're also one of the most popular robotic vacuum and mop makers. Their Jet Bot AI+ is equipped with cutting-edge onboard technology for navigation and obstacle avoidance.
The app provides plenty of options to customize your robotic cleaner, such as virtual barriers, mopping water levels and behavior adjustments, docking frequency settings, and more. It's easy to understand and user-friendly, as is the case with other Samsung devices.
In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and cleaned up 86% of dog hair (on carpet). However, it did not do particularly well in avoiding higher-up objects like cords or socks, which was disappointing. It's also more expensive than the other models we've tested, and this could be a deterrent for some shoppers.
The smart vacuum comes with an onboard camera that is accessible via the app. You can also create a live stream from the robot's cleaning station. This feature lets you to check in on your children or pets while you're away. The dustbin and the filter can be washed for an easy, quick clean-up. The Jet bot cleaner AI+ comes with self vacuum-emptying clean stations, which helps to keep the robot's bin clear and maximizes suction power.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
Black and Decker robots have been developed specifically for flooring made of hard wood. They come with a wide cleaning path and a larger dustbin that holds 2X more debris than the competition to keep the cleaning area clear for maximum runtime. They also come with two side sweepers that can be used to clean around corners and edges. The POWERSERIES model includes AutoSense which adjusts the power level according to whether it's cleaning up dirt that is on the surface or embedded. The vacuum also has an app that allows users to see a virtual map, control functions, and schedules. You can also monitor the status of the vacuum and connect it to the dock for charging with the click of a button. The app lets you customize the LED lights on the top of the vacuum to tell where it is focused or if it has gotten stuck.
The app makes it possible to steer the robot manually when needed. For example my living room rug has a darkly colored border that can trip up some of the other robots I've tested. The HRV 425BL however was able to continue to move across the border without ever registering the edge. Also, the ability to set up the weekly cleaning schedule is a great time-saving convenience.
