Path of Exile Item Upgrading

In Path of Exile, item upgrading is one of the most effective ways to upgrade your gear without relying upon large-ticket drops or trade. This article will teach you how to upp your items efficiently.

Upgrading equipment grants a bonus to the item's base stats. This bonus is based on the upgrade component's level and rarity.

Components

Upgrade components are the parts that make your weapons and armor better. You can find them by destroying enemies, buying them from karma sellers or finding them in items-spheres. They can also be salvaged from equipment that has them, or through a high-tier salvage kit like the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. Upgrade components cannot be destroyed by removing them from an item.

Upgrade components are primarily used to improve an item but they can also be used for other reasons. They can be used to increase the level of the amount of experience gained by upgrading equipment or weapons. They can be made for extra bonuses. For example, a designed glyph will increase the chances of upgrading its target, and an upgrade boost will increase the attack or defense attribute of a weapon or armor.

Selecting an upgrade template in the GUI will let you bind it to an item. This will display the upgrade components that the item can be upgraded. Alternatively, you can use the workbench to select an upgrade template. In either scenario, an item will be upgraded after enough upgrade components have been gathered.

Each component has a unique experience multiplier. This determines how much experience an Best item upgrade can gain when upgraded using the component. For instance, organic components have a an experience multiplier that is higher than mechanical ones. You should upgrade your organic components first until you reach the next level in the weapon or equipment and then switch to the mechanical upgrades.

Each item comes with an upgrade limit number that can be received. The number of upgrades available is determined by the upgradeable rank and the type of upgrade available to the upgradeable item. The highest upgrade possible is a weapon that is 10th level. However, the most common upgrades for weapons are the tier 6 weapon and an armor upgrade of tier 5.

Sets

A set is a group of items that share the benefit of. Each item can be upgraded at least once. The upgrade will increase the bonuses that are guaranteed. The first time you upgrade a set piece or weapon will give it a +1 increase to its primary stat. After subsequent upgrades, primary stats are increased even more (for instance, +1 for 12+/13+/14+) and each time an item is upgraded, one of its additional stats is increased randomly.

The upgrade of a weapon can increase the damage base, which can be crucial for certain builds. Weapons can't be upgraded for a higher maximum defence roll than their base. Upgrading can be a good option to increase the value of certain sets and unique items, but it's important to note that they may not be superior to a high-level runeword in any build.

If an item you're upgrading has a guaranteed bonus it is able to be rerolled a few times and the guarantee will reset to 0. The same amount of power dies are used to reroll an item, just as it is used to level it up. However the new item comes with different bonuses. Upgrading can be done by visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in the Central Flarine. To upgrade an item, you'll require a power die of each type (Dice 4 or 6 drop from monsters 21+ and Giants; dice 7 drops from bosses) and the proper amount of Minerals and Erons. These can be purchased with Gold at the crafting table, or in the Ultra Collection. NPCs will also provide special rewards for each completed level of the upgrade process. This reward can be rerolled a second time and will use the same materials as the first item.

Rerolling

If the player has enough to reroll tokens, they are able to reroll any item that they've acquired during the game. When an upgraded item gets rerolled, it will be exchanged for a version at a level 1 of the same item in a different set. Reroll tokens are available at the store for a small sum of in-game currency. They are not refundable. The new item upgrader will come with the same bonus features as the original, but the stats will differ.

In addition to rerolling items, players can also change the identity of any equipment by engaging with an upgrader NPC. This will change the identity from an armored weapon to a weapon, or vice versa, while retaining its base stats and attributes that are required. The change is permanent and will affect all characters that are wearing the gear.

The player can also upgrade the item level for any equipped equipment. This can be done by talking to an upgrader NPC and getting upgrade components. The cost will differ based on the upgrade track, item type and number of crests. In the case of weapons, each step up will add an additional five percent to the damage.

Upgrades can increase the capability of an item, but they also can decrease its quality. Therefore, it is crucial to strike a balance between the two. Certain items aren't worth upgrading, while other items need to be upgraded to reach their full potential. A player might want to upgrade breakpoint armor with an interesting modification (% block chance or FHR) in order to explore what else it can be.

Rerolling is a standard practice in Genshin Impact and other gacha-based games. People use it to gain access to an item or character they cannot otherwise get. Getting these items can be expensive and time-consuming and the RNG gods do not always want to play ball. The only other options are to spend real money or grind extensively. For this reason, rerolling is a popular option in Genshin Impact.

Leveling

When upgrading an item you can increase the level of the weapon or armor. But, this feature does absolutely nothing in the current game. I believe this feature was designed to add some value to rare and expensive items. However, since most items are replaced quite quickly, and it can only be leveled up to a certain level, you will usually replace it before it becomes too old. It's also not worthwhile to upgrade items with gem sockets since the value of the gem will be greater than the increase in ilvl with the upgrade.

If you click on the upgrade option on an item, you'll be presented with a small window displaying the upgrade template for the item and the cost of crest and Valorstone to increase the level of the item. The cost will differ between armor and weapons, with the former usually costing more than the latter. The upgrade template outlines the stats that will be added to an upgraded item and also the current ilvl.

The cost of the Valorstone and the crest is calculated based on the current Ilvl of the item and the upgrade templates. The ilvl is also decreased by the upgrade templates reduction percentage for lvl. For example an upgrade of 8% will reduce the weapon's ilvl by 8 to 8%.

The item will get upgrades to other stats like critical strike damage, PvE damage and block, parry and dodge rating in addition to the base ilvl. These increases are also based off the upgrade template.

In the upgrade template you can see the amount of damage or defense the item will suffer after it is leveled up. This is displayed below the cost and upgrade percentages. Apart from the equipment for practice, all armor and weapons gain these same stats when leveled up. The market determines the value of these stats. A weapon or armor that has perfect rolls can command more than an unupp'd version. The same applies to other armor pieces, like tiaras and circlets.
