If you're looking to keep your baby as close as you can at night, but not have to leave the bed, a crib that is placed beside your bed is the perfect solution. The breathable fabric lets you to easily see your baby and they are easy to lower if you need an early feeding.

Some also double up as a moses basket as well.

What is a bedside crib or cot crib?

A bedside crib, also referred to as a bassinet or a co sleeper bedside cot-sleeper is a crib for babies that is attached to your adult bed. This allows your newborn to sleep with you in safety. This is a form of co-sleeping that is safe and doesn't increase the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) like bedsharing, and can help you build a bond with your newborn.

They have a side which can be adjusted to allow you to reach your baby easily at night to comfort and feed them. This is especially useful for mums recovering from an op. Many of them are portable or foldable, so you can take them on trips and use them as a temporary sleep solution for newborns who aren't quite ready to move into a cot that is full size.

Find a crib that has an air-conditioned mattress, as well as an extra-safe cover that will shield your baby from staining. You might also want to purchase baby-safe items such as a blanket or teether.

If you're looking for a more long-term alternative, some cribs are equipped with conversion kits that let you convert them into a cot or toddler bed at the time of need. This can extend their lifespan and make the transition smoother. Some have a removable top section that can be converted into a bassinet, and some can be used on either the regular or high-rise adult bed. This is a great option for families that are planning to travel frequently or switch between bedrooms at night. Take into consideration the dimensions of your room to ensure you be able to fit in the crib comfortably. A lot of cribs have a riser which can be used to create an inclined position for babies who suffer from reflux.

The Joie Roomie Glide

The Roomie Glide, a bedside travel crib crib manufactured by the English brand Joie, is a great addition to their line of high-quality products for infants. It is designed to allow parents to bond with their infants while they sleep side by side without sharing a bed. This co-sleeper is packed with features that make bonding between parents and babies easy, safe and enjoyable.

One of the key features is a soft rocking motion that can be activated with the touch of the button. This can soothe baby into sleep with a gentle beat that doesn't disrupt their normal sleep pattern. This is great for older babies or toddlers who have difficulty settling down. It can also assist with digestive problems like colic and reflux.

The crib can also be attached to the side of the bed with an attachment strap and clip. This makes it extremely stable and secure allowing you to get a good night's rest without worrying about your little one rolling off into the middle of the room. The cocoon's rounded shape features soft padded sides and double mesh windows on both ends to allow for plenty of airflow while protecting your baby.

The mattress is soft and firm. It also includes a washable cover. The crib is simple to assemble and disassemble with a lightweight aluminium frame that makes it very portable. The four locking wheels are covered with rubber to ensure that the crib doesn't leave marks on your floor and are easy to move around. It is easy to clean using cloths that wipe clean and is simple to tote in a bag for travel, making it ideal for overnight time away from home.

The Tutti Bambini CoZee Air

This premium model is designed to be a safe, next-to-me-crib from birth to 6 months. It features rocking bars to allow for easy mobility, as well as castors. Its airflow mattress is luxurious and provides an incredibly comfortable sleeping surface, while ventilation panels keep your baby cool. There are also 6 different height settings and an incline option that could help with congestion and reflux.

Contrary to some cribs that are placed on the bed which can be difficult to clean due to their constant stream of snot and dribble and snot, the Tutti Bambini CoZeeAir comes with a wipe-clean liner and fabric that can be removed for machine-washing. Additionally, it comes with an upper bar that can be easily adjusted to feed at night without having to fumble with zips in the dark.

Anna found the CoZee to provide a safe, comfortable place to sleep for her baby. She was pleased that it didn't move like other models, which meant she wasn't woken up in the night trying to comfort her child for feedings. She also enjoyed that the side was lowered so she didn't have to reach out over her partner to pull the baby out for feedings at night.

The CoZee is available in oak and charcoal and is a chic addition to the bedroom. It's more of a designer piece than some of the other cribs that we've tried, which appear rather utilitarian. It's also quite lightweight at just 11kg and comes with a carry-on case that allows you to take it with you on vacation or when moving house. It's all you need to buy is an extra waterproof sheet and safety strap to sleep with your partner. There are helpful step-by-step instructions and photos to help you put it together when first opening the box, making it a one-person task should you need to.

The Maxi-Cosi lora

The Iora is a bedside crib vs cot bassinet that helps parents feel closer to their infant while they sleep. It can be adjusted up and down and can be moved through three slide positions to fit beside the bed of the parent or in the corner of the room so that the baby is always close at hand. The breathable mesh siding allows air to flow through, and gives you a quick glance at your child. You can also store more pajamas and other supplies in the large storage basket under.

As opposed to other bedside crib options, the Iora can be folded flat and comes with a bag for travel which allows it to be taken anywhere. Our mum testers were able to move it from room to room and believed it was a great size for a small bedside crib and travel cot cot, not too big or small. They also liked the large storage basket perfect for storing nappies or bedding.

This is a great option for parents looking to co-sleep but don't want to share their beds or whose partners may be prone to mobility issues, such as arthritis or back issues. Our mom testers were thrilled to be able to easily access their child in the Iora and that it had an option to have a reflux incline which helped to reduce gas.

Our moms also love the fact that the mattress is in line with NICE guidelines that state to put the infant in a crib or Moses basket on its own (with no toys, blankets, pillows, etc). They also state that the mattress is firm and comfortable for baby and is easy to find sheets for. It's not as light as the other cribs that are smaller, though, so if you want something lighter and easier to move around with, think about one of the other options on our list.
