World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades can be used to boost the stats of a particular item. Depending on the upgrade type it can increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity, as well as boost other stats.

Each item comes with a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a set amount.

Item Level

When an item gets upgraded, its stats increase in value. The value is the sum of all its upgraded advantages (attack, magic attack and defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high dependent on the upgrader and what type of upgrade you choose to make. This is because of how many perks need to be replaced in order for the item to get upgraded.

Item level is a widely used measurement of power and can be found on all tooltips for items. It also serves to limit how much PvP gear players are able to wear, since PvP is limited at lower levels. The average level of an item can be found in the character sheet.

Utilizing the level of an item will allow players to compare the strength of equipment when they decide to buy or sell. It's an excellent indicator of an item's quality and the amount of damage it's able to deal. The item level can also be used to compare items when evaluating a vendor's inventory.

The item level can be seen by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will show the full description of the item, including its value. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat.

There are a variety of theories on how the item level is calculated. One theory is that the item level is a number derived from a formula that determines how much an item's stats are worth. It takes into consideration the fact that different perks have different worth and gems in sockets add to the item's overall value. This process could result in a calculated amount for the item's ilvl which is usually quite close to Blizzard's actual item level.

However, this isn't the only factor that can affect an item upgrader kit's ilvl as the size of the area the item was dropped in could change the value of its stats, for instance by adding an additional level to its crit rating or haste rating. Items that drop in higher-level instances will have a higher value.

Item Stats

The stats of an item can make or break an item for players. The game makes use of a lot of them in a variety of ways to encourage players to play with multiple weapons, and prevent one weapon from being "the best." The stat mods on an weapon increase the base stats. These stat mods are then enhanced by a player's level.

Upgrades to an item may increase the stats of an item. The rarity of an item determines its cost of upgrading. For example, a grey or white item can only be upgraded once, while an item with rare tiers will be upgraded several times with higher prices.

Another method of altering the stats on an item upgrader kit is through affixes. They are stat boosts that can be added by the player to an item. The affixes can be used to give items additional damage, special capabilities (such as revitalizing dead or reducing cooling downs), or to distinguish them by naming them.

All affixes can be being re-rolled right now by selecting them in the upgrade menu pressing the green button. This procedure will cost the player a certain amount of gold as well as items which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same way as the other options for rerolling.

In addition to rerolling affixes, players can also choose which of the available stats they want to keep on an item after it is upgraded. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However, all items will include at least one stat within the same range, unless it's an exclusive item or a God Roll from a boss in a raid.

Another thing that could change is the option to upgrade equipment without having to reroll the affixes, or choose which stats to enhance. But as with base equipment, this would need to be carried out on a per-item basis and the interface for item comparison wouldn't show all possible stats either lost or gained at the same time.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player stacks up to increase the chances of finding items as well as the properties that appear on loot drops and the strength of these properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or ability to upgrade items. It provides players with an opportunity to get better gear earlier in the game. This is more useful in early game runs because players tend to put the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the chances of being successful when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading that increases with each item level and can be further increased by using an anti-material, such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons come with the default Luck value of 40. These items can be improved with golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the material they are made of) to add another 40 luck or to boost the luck of the item to 140.

Furthermore, certain items, like the Hollow weapon, which is infused with Hollow can be outfitted to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by five percent. These items can be found in the shop or crafted with the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Item upgrades are expensive and not all upgrades will succeed. Cash shop items can be used to increase the chances of success for an upgrade or to prevent players from losing their item if it is not successful.

The success rate of an upgrade is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of completing the upgrade successfully and it can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The percentage of success can only be increased by so much, and the likelihood that the upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%.

The success of an item upgrades is also influenced by the Luck of that item. Every item has an initial success rate of 25% and every item with Luck increases that chance by 5%.

The upgrade overlays for items are rendered above items in the inventory. This may block enchantment effects as well as other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the item upgrader (Read the Full Article) CORE client config.
