WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades can give you an increase in specific stats. Each upgrade increases item level by 3. A random substat is also added to every upgrade.
The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item upgrade level upgrade (just click the next post) has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the need to roll to get a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. However, the item that is used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create the enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in all major cities, and can be accessed anytime to upgrade items your equipment. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks.
The cost of upgrading will depend on the current level of the item being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than buying new gear from other sources. For example, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item from another player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them from item upgraders NPCs in a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor using a The button will display a preview of an item's next upgrade level if there are enough materials.
Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot for the item and the current level of the item. For instance weapons are more expensive than bracers, or gloves. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Certain upgrades provide a discount on the Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.
A lot of locations offer upgraders for items in addition to the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount and a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrading increases when more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.
Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no upgrader for items available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades are acquired via various methods that are both an improvement and a drawback.
In Season 3 the upgrade system has been modified a bit, and numerous new features added. Once a player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This is even if the items come from an entirely different set of gear.
The discount is applicable to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players reach certain milestones in their achievement.
Crests
Players have a variety of options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are an important part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that crests are only available for equipment that is with a certain rank. Each rank comes with distinct upgrade paths. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complicated requires as many as 20 crests depending on the type of equipment being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by working through tasks at the appropriate level. This could be done by doing outdoor activities, or by taking on dungeons and raids of any difficulty to earn lower-level gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. These crests can then be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.
Utilizing these new currencies isn't too difficult however, the system will introduce a few modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it will no longer require Flightstones. This change allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible on all of their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.
Another important change is that crests have one usage and it's crucial to make use of them in a responsible manner. It is recommended to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear you can locate, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is especially applicable to items like trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The discount on the account will only apply when all slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
