GreenPower Motor Company manufactures a complete range of heavy and green scooters power electric scooter scooter (Squareblogs.net) medium-duty electric vehicles, including high-floor Electric Power Scooters and lower-floor models. The EV Star Cab & Chassis is their flagship model, and it is able to be adapted to suit a variety of applications. The platform's clean sheet design approach allows for optimal battery pack placement and a lower center of gravity, resulting in higher payload to range ratios.
The EV Star REEFERX is designed to be used for mid-to-last mile refrigerated delivery and catering. The refrigerated truck's class 4 configuration's one wall structure in the interior and higher insulation levels compared to traditional trucks allow for seamless sanitation, better temperature control and a longer life. The EV Star REEFERX provides superior cargo capacity and a world-class payload to range ratio that is ideal for zero-emission passenger and cargo transportation.
GreenPower has partnered with Perrone Robotics in order to equip the EV Star with TONY (To navigate you) autonomous vehicle systems. This will enable fleets to easily make the transition to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star will also be capable of wireless charging at 75 kW.
We were allowed to test drive the EV9 on a local highway for several hours, and found it to be easy to drive, and comfortable to drive over long distances. The EV9 can block wind and road noise while driving on the highway. It rides smoothly over ruts and humps. The car's acceleration is surprisingly quick, and it features adjustable regenerative brakes that allow "one-pedal driving" simply by releasing the accelerator.
The EV9 has a wide range and can be recharged in three hours or less at home, or with any commercial charger. Drivers can choose between two modes of operation: eco mode and sports mode. Eco mode focuses on torque, cruise control and handling, while sport mode increases speed. Both modes are fun to drive and provide a unique experience for those who haven't driven an electrical vehicle before.
GreenPower offers several other eVehicles, including a multipurpose all-electric minibus, called the EV Star. The EV Star is ADA-compliant and can be used as executive shuttles, microtransit or transit vanpools, buses, or paratransit vehicles.
GreenPower is already producing about 10 EV Star buses a month for the Jacksonville Transit Authority, which is working to replace their fleet of diesel vehicles with 100 electric vehicles. GreenPower will increase production to meet the demands of the Biden Administration, which is looking to electrify all school buses in America. Their EV Star buses are the first of their kind to be Altoona tested and FMVSS certified. They are Buy America compliant, and ADA compliant. This will make them eligible for federal transit grants. Stay tuned for updates as we follow the AV Star on its tour of demonstration later in the year. We will be sharing more information on this innovative electric vehicle.
