WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of the item by +3. A random substat is also added to each upgrade items.
Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect model.
Recycle Points
The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapons. However, the item level upgrade - click for info, that is used for the upgrade will be consumed forever and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enhancements.
The upgrader is located in all major cities and can be visited anytime to upgrade your equipment. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each few weeks.
The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current item level of the item being upgraded but they will always be less expensive than buying new gear from other sources. For example upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points, purchasing a similar piece from a different player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapons, armor, tools and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them from item upgraders NPCs for various currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor with the help of The button will show a preview of an item's next upgrade level when there are enough materials.
The cost of upgrading is based on the item slot and the current item upgrader mod level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers for instance. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades give discounts on Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currency types.
Upgraders for items are available at many locations on the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon as well as the chance to obtain the latest recipe. The upgrade discount increases when more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players finish certain achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are available only through a variety of methods. This is both a positive and a drawback.
In Season 3, the upgrade system has been modified a bit, and some new features added. After the player has upgraded to a certain level of item for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level, will cost less. This applies even if the items are from an entirely different set of gear.
The discount is applicable to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is reduced also, but is only available once certain milestones are reached.
Crests
When it comes to upgrading gear in WoW, players have a variety of options. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are utilized during specific Best item upgrade level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.
The first thing to remember is that crests can only be used to purchase equipment that is of a particular rank, and each rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and simplest upgrade items costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade requires up to 20 crests, contingent on the kind of equipment that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through working through content at the appropriate level. This could mean doing outdoor activities, or by doing dungeons or raids in all difficulties to get equipment of lower tier or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons with heroic difficulty for endgame gear. These crests can be exchanged with an upgrader for the item, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and routes.
The new currency system isn't difficult to use, but it does bring some changes to the upgrade process. For example, once an item reaches the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is intended to allow players to get their gear up to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.
Another notable modification is that crests have one usage, so it's important to use them wisely. For instance it's a good idea to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the Best item upgrade gear you have available, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning on making. This is particularly applicable to trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to benefit from the account-wide discount if all slots are filled with top-quality gear.
