A Small Bedside Cot That Attaches to Your Adult Bed

If you want to keep your baby as close as possible to him at night, without having to get out of the bed, a crib for bed is the best option. The fabric's breathable design allows you to easily see your baby and they're incredibly easy to lower for those bleary-eyed 3am feeds.

Some double as a moses' basket.

What is a bedside cot?

A bedside crib, also referred as a bassinet, or co-sleeper is a baby cot attached to your adult bed. This allows your newborn to sleep with you in peace. It's a method of co-sleeping that is safe and doesn't increase the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) similar to bedsharing and can help you build a bond with your baby's new arrival.

These cots have a side which can be adjusted so that you can reach your baby easily at night to soothe and feed them. This is especially useful for mums recovering from a c-section. Some are also foldable or portable, so you can bring them along on trips and use them as a temporary sleep solution for newborns who aren't yet ready to move into a cot bedside that is full size.

When you are looking for a crib to sleep in, look for a model with a breathable mattress and a cover to shield your infant from stains. It is also advisable to buy baby-safe items such as a blanket and cuddly toys.

If you're looking for a longer-term option, some cribs come with conversion kits that let you transform them into a cot, or a toddler bed at the time of need. This will extend their life and make the transition smoother. Some models have a removable portion at the top that can be turned into an infant bed. Others can be used with a regular adult bed or a high-rise model. This is a great option for families that plan on frequently traveling or switching between bedrooms throughout the night. You should also think about how big your bedroom is to ensure you can fit the crib in comfortably. A lot of cribs have an riser that can be used to create an inclined position for babies who suffer from reflux.

The Joie Roomie Glide

Famous for their high-end baby products, English brand Joie has stepped into the world of cribs that are bedside with the Roomie Glide. The idea behind the product is to help parents bond with their infants while they sleep side by side without sharing a bed. This co-sleeper comes with features that make bonding between parents and babies easy, safe and enjoyable.

A smooth rocking motion can be initiated by pressing a button. This gentle rhythm can soothe your baby into sleep without disturbing their natural sleeping patterns. This is great for older babies or toddlers who struggle to settle down. It can also aid with digestive issues such as colic and reflux.

The crib can be locked in place once the rocking is finished to stop it from moving. It can be secured to the side of your bed by clips and straps. This makes it stable and secure allowing you to enjoy a peaceful night's rest without worrying about your little one falling off into the middle of the room. The rounded cocoon shape has softly cushioned sides and double mesh windows on both sides to allow plenty of air flow whilst protecting your baby.

The mattress included is comfortable and firm and comes with an easily removable cover. The crib is easy to set up and disassemble thanks to the lightweight aluminum frame that makes it extremely portable. The four wheels that are rubber-covered and lockable ensure that the crib does not leave marks on your floors and are easy to move. It is easy to clean with wipeable woven fabrics and is easy to carry in a travel bag making it ideal for long-term stays away from home.

The Tutti Bambini CoZee Air

Created to be a safe next-to-me crib from birth to six months old, this top model features rocking bars and castors to allow for easy mobility. The airflow mattresses are deluxe and provide a comfortable sleeping surface, while the ventilation panels keep your baby cool. There are six different height settings, including an incline option that can help with congestion and reflux.

The Tutti Bambini COZee air crib comes with a removable fabric and a wipe-clean lining. This makes it much easier to clean than some bedside crib or cot cribs which can create a mess to clean. It also comes with a top bar which can be easily lowered to accommodate nighttime feedings without having to mess with zips.

Anna discovered that the CoZee was a comfortable and safe sleeping space for her infant. She was pleased the fact that it didn't roll like some other models, so it didn't wake her up at night when she was trying to soothe her baby during feeds. She also enjoyed that the side was lowered so she didn't need to reach out over her partner to lift the baby to feed her at night.

The CoZee comes in charcoal or oak and is a stylish addition to any bedroom. It's more stylish than other cribs we've seen that are usually utilitarian. It's also light at just 11kg. It also comes with a carry-on case, so you can take it on holiday or when moving house. You'll need an extra waterproof sheet and safety strap for sleeping together. The instructions and pictures are simple to follow when you first open the box.

The Maxi-Cosi lora

The Iora is a bassinet designed for infants designed to help parents feel closer to their infant while they sleep. It can be adjusted up and down and shifted through three different slide positions, to be placed beside the parent's bed or in the corner, to ensure that the infant is always at hand. The mesh siding allows air to circulate through, allowing you to quickly see your baby. You can also keep extra pajamas or supplies in the large basket underneath.

In contrast to other bedside crib options Iora is a standout among other bedside cribs. Iora folds flat and comes with a travel bag which allows it to be taken wherever. Our mom testers found it easy to move from room to room and believed that it was a good size for a bedside cot, and not too big or too small. They also loved the large storage basket which is ideal for stowing nappies or bedding.

This is a great choice for parents who wish to sleep in a co-sleeping bed, but don't wish to share their bed. Or if one of the partners suffers from mobility issues like back pain or arthritis. Our mum testers love the fact that they can easily access their baby in the Iora, and that it has an optional reflux incline to aid in reducing gas.

Our moms also love the fact that it meets NICE guidelines that state to put the baby in a crib or Moses basket on its own (with no blankets, toys pillows, etc.). The mattress is also firm and comfortable for the baby, and sheets are readily available. It's not as light as other smaller cribs on our list, so if prefer something lighter and easier for you to move, choose another alternative.
