What is a bedside crib?

A bedside crib (also known as a co-sleeper or bassinet) is a small baby bedside co sleeper cot that attaches to your adult bed, allowing your infant to sleep comfortably next to you. This is a form of co-sleeping that is safe and does not increase the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) like bedsharing and can help you bond with your newborn.

These cots often come with a side that can be adjusted so that you can easily reach your infant during the night for feeding and comforting. This is particularly useful for mothers recovering from a csection. Many of them are portable or foldable which means you can use them to travel cot bedside crib or as an interim solution for babies who aren't quite ready to transition into a full-sized crib.

Choose a crib that has a mattress that is breathable, as well as an appropriate cover to protect your baby from staining. You should also pick up some baby-safe add-ons such as a blanket, a teether and a cuddly toy.

If you're seeking a long-term solution Some cribs have conversion kits that allow you to transform them into a toddler bed or cot at the time that is right. This will extend their life and make the transition smoother. Some have a removable top section that transforms into an infant bed, and some can be used on either a regular or a high-rise adult bed. This is an excellent choice for families who plan to frequently travel or switch between bedrooms in the evening. Take into consideration the dimensions of your bedroom to ensure that you fit in the crib comfortably. Many cribs come with an riser that can be used to create an inclined position for babies who suffer from reflux.

The Joie Roomie Glide

The Roomie Glide, a bedside crib manufactured by the English brand Joie is a fantastic addition to their range of high-quality products for babies. The co-sleeper was created to allow parents to connect and sleep side-by-side with their babies without sharing a single bed. It's packed with features that make bonding between parents and baby safe, easy and enjoyable.

One of the main features is a soft rocking motion that can be activated by the press of an button. This will help soothe your baby to sleep with a gentle beat that doesn't disturb their natural sleep pattern. This is great for older babies or toddlers who struggle to settle down. It can also assist with digestive problems like colic and reflux.

The crib can be locked in place once the rocking is completed to stop it from moving. It can also be secured to the bed's side with a strap and clip attachment. This makes it very solid and secure, allowing you to enjoy a peaceful night's sleep without having to worry about your baby rolling off into the middle of the room. The cocoon's rounded shape features soft padded sides and double mesh windows on both ends to allow for plenty of air flow whilst keeping your baby secure.

The mattress is soft and firm. It also comes with a washable cover. The crib is simple to set up and disassemble thanks to the lightweight aluminum frame that makes it very mobile. The four rubber-covered wheels lockable ensure that the crib will not leave marks on your flooring and is easy to move. The crib is easy to clean due to the fabric that is washable and is easily put in bags for the duration of your stay.

The TuttiBambini CoZee air

This premium model is designed to be a safe, baby bedside cot-sitter from birth to 6 months. It comes with bars with rocking to make it easy to move and castors. The premium airflow mattresses offer a comfy sleeping surface, while ventilation panels help keep your baby cool. There are six different height settings, including an incline option that can aid in reducing reflux and congestion.

The Tutti Bambini COZee air crib has a fabric that can be removed and wipe-clean lining. This makes it easier to clean than some bedside cribs that are a mess to clean. Plus, it has a top bar that can be easily lowered for nighttime feeds without needing to fumble with zips in the dark.

Anna found the CoZee to be a safe and comfortable sleeping space for her infant. She loved that it didn't rock like other models, which meant it didn't wake her at night while she was trying to soothe her baby during feeds. She also liked that the side of the chair could be lowered so she didn't have to reach over her partner in order to lift the child for nighttime feedings.

The CoZee is available in oak and charcoal and is a beautiful addition to the bedroom. It's more modern than other cribs we've tried that are usually utilitarian. It's also quite light at just 11kg and comes with a carrying case which allows you to take it on vacation or if moving home. The only things you'll need to buy are a waterproof sheet and a safety strap for co-sleeping. There are step-by-step directions and illustrations to guide you through the process as you open the box and making it a one-person job when needed.

The Maxi-Cosi Lora

The Iora is a bassinet that can be placed at the bedside that allows parents to feel more connected to their infant as they sleep. It can be adjusted up and down and shifted through three different slide positions to fit beside the parent's bed or in the corner to ensure that the infant is always in reach. The mesh siding lets air flow through and allows you to quickly see your baby. You can also put away additional pajamas or other items in the large storage basket beneath.

Unlike some other smaller cheap bedside cot crib options, the Iora can be folded flat and comes with a bag for travel so that it can be taken wherever. It was easy to move from room to room, and our mum testers felt it was the perfect size for a bedside crib. The large storage basket is great to store bedding and nappies.

This is a great option for parents who are looking to sleep in a co-sleeping arrangement but don't want to share their own beds, or whose partners might be suffering from mobility issues, such as arthritis or back issues. Our mom testers love the ease with which they can access their child in the Iora, and it also has an option to tilt the bed upwards to aid in reducing gas.

Our mums appreciate the fact that it complies with NICE guidelines, which are to place the infant in the crib or Moses basket on its own (with no blankets, toys pillows, etc.). They also say that the mattress is firm and comfortable for the baby and easy to find sheets for. It isn't as light as the other cribs that are smaller, though and if you're looking for something lighter and more portable, consider one of the other options in our list.
