World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric stats on armor, weapons and rings. They also boost extra bonuses like PvE damage and crit chance.
If the template for upgrading a weapon is in %, the weapon will gain an additional 3% of the previous attack damage each time it is upgraded.
Item upgrading costs crests and the current level of the item upgrader. The cost increases as the level of the item rises.
Components
Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, weapons and armor to provide them with a boost in stats or add a bonus effect. These can be obtained by crafting, purchasing from vendors, trading with other players or looting. Certain upgrades come with special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components are only available to devices that have slots. The item must be upgraded to blue level before a component can be used. Unlike other mods, upgrade components can only be used one time; they cannot be applied multiple times or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a particular type of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet ascended or legendary equipment and some of the back items that are not ascending. Enrichments and Infusions can be obtained by salvaging equipment that is ascended or by completing a mission within the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.
A prefix or suffix may be added to an upgrade, which alters the name of the item it's applied to (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' becomes Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players make stronger versions of the equipment that require the smallest amount of Upgrade Crystals than are required to achieve the same level of upgrade using normal methods.
A 'boost' upgrade can alter the attack or defense attributes of the weapon or armor. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist, these upgrades can be crafted at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades can be obtained by purchasing them from the cash shop, or by obtaining them from enemies when upgrading other gear.
Each upgrade increases the chance that a higher tier version of an item will be available during the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to continue improving their equipment even if they're not sure of how much they'll improve after a future reset.
If a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process could be costly, and there is a substantial chance that the item could be obsolete or even break if it fails; a unsuccessful upgrade could ruin the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to decrease or eliminate the chance of failure. Certain upgrades also provide an additional bonus when reinserted.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to enhance the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets that are specifically designed for. Glyphs buff the power of all nodes in a radius around them, including pre-existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in many ways, and we suggest getting them to level 15 whenever you can.
In the final game you'll often discover that the best way to improve your gear is by placing Glyphs. These are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded up to level 15 and give an enormous boost to your power on the Paragon Board.
The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced however, Glyphs are only the one upgrade component that can be removed and replaced without any restrictions. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires the use of a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and replace.
The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it from your inventory. You can replace it with another Glyph that is the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.
Glyphs can be found in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of a Gem Store bundle or purchase, with certain unlimited-use tools and also during Faction Crypt Raids. Every Faction Crypt has the chance of dropping one of the many Glyphs, and there are also a few rare glyphs to be obtained as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.
Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs then you have to put them on your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a special bonus which will boost a specific set of stat nodes in a radius surrounding the Glyph. It can be +40 for one of your primary stats, or +25 for two of your secondary stats, based on the Glyph.
Glyphs boost all nodes connected to them, therefore it is best to put Glyphs in the most important locations on the Graph. This will maximize the impact. Druids, for example should put their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They may be able to place them near their critical damage nodes.
Leveling
The upgrade system for items allows players to increase the stats of specific items by introducing upgraded components. This is known as "upping". Each upgradeable item is assigned an amount that determines the final stats. Upgraded items may be leveled to a maximum of ilvl 385. Each item upgrader kit level requires a different number of components to be reached and the cost of upgrading increase as the item is advanced in level.
Some upgrades require a special ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or on the upgrade tab of the crafting table. Each completed Upgrade Recipe yields some Technology Points. These points can be used to level up the item. Once enough are earned, the upgrade can be claimed and its additional bonuses will be added to the item.
When a player upgrades an item to a higher level, the original item is replaced by a new item of the same type. The same armor will be upgraded to the form of a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will also come with a bonus of its own. This could be a problem in that it could make the item more expensive if you don't need it.
If the player has enough tokens they can reroll item upgrades. The item will be replaced with the same item, but it has a level 1 basis and completely different bonuses. This is a good idea, but should not be repeated often since it can waste resources.
Some upgrades can increase their value and allow players to modify their gear. One example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an increase in power when a player is repeatedly in and out of the water (or is able to swim like dolphins). The item can be upgraded many times by increasing the maximum roll every time by 10 increments. This item is highly useful in PvP. A properly rolled version could be worth 50 times the value of the non-upgraded counterpart.
Requirements
The ability to upgrade items allows players to boost the level of their available gear--armor, weapons and trinkets that are above ilvl 385 by providing the appropriate items and currency to an NPC who upgrades items. Upgrades to armor set pieces also boost the defense of the base set and upgrades to weapon items increase the damage they deal as well as their strength and dexterity.
Each item can be upgraded up to five times except for hero equipment, which is able to be upgraded eight times. Each each time you upgrade an item it is given an opportunity to fail. The rate of failure increases as you exceed the maximum number of upgrades. Failures will result in the item returning to its original condition which means that the player has to spend additional materials than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum amount.
If an item upgrader fails to upgrade the amount of experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. The item also loses any bonuses it has gained like chances to be crit, attack damage, or additional effects (such as an increase in healing over time or reloading speed). However, the player may continue to use the weapon or armor after the failure.
If an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied in order from the lowest to the highest. This means that, if a weapon gains an increase in its crit chance it will be applied before any increase in attack damage. Slots is a brand new attribute that has been added to item definitions. The value is calculated every time an upgrade occurs.
The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating as well as the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium items is the same as the base value of the upgrade. For instance, a typical equipment item may have five upgrades, each costing 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items will come with a much lower cost for each additional upgrade.
Premium items could require different upgrades than standard gear. For example, they may need less sowels, but they will require more minerals and orons. Whatever the case, players must visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they want to upgrade. Each upgrade of equipment requires different amounts of the ingredients needed to upgrade, in addition to the expenses that are listed above.
