GreenPower Motor Company produces a complete line of high-floor and low-floor all-electric power scooters heavy-duty and medium-duty vehicles. Their flagship vehicle is the EV Star Cab & Chassis platform, which can be used to accommodate many different body designs and upgrades for a variety of applications. The design of the platform is based on a clear paper sheet, which allows for optimal placement of the battery pack and a lower center-of-gravity. This results in better payload/range ratios.
The EV Star REEFERX is designed to serve mid to last mile refrigerated delivery as well as catering applications. The class 4 refrigerated trucks with a single wall structure inside and a higher insulation level than conventional trucks, enable seamless sanitation and better temperature control. They also have a longer lifespan. The EV Star REEFERX delivers superior cargo capacity and a world-class payload to range ratio for zero-emission passenger and cargo transportation.
GreenPower has partnered with Perrone Robotics to up-fit the EV Star with their TONY (To Navigate You) autonomous vehicle system, which will allow fleets to easily move to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star is also capable of wireless charging up to 75 kW.
We had the chance to test drive the EV9 for a few hours on a local freeway, and found it to be easy to drive and comfortable for long distances. The EV9 can be used to block wind and road noise while driving along the highway. It is smooth on ruts and humps. The acceleration is quite quick and the vehicle has adjustable regenerative braking to enable "one pedal driving" by simply lifting the accelerator.
The EV9 has a wide range and can be recharged in just three hours or less at home, or using any commercial charger. Drivers can choose between two operating modes that include eco mode and sports mode. Eco mode prioritizes torque, cruise control and handling, while sport mode increases speed. Both modes are enjoyable to drive and offer an unforgettable experience for those who have never been in a vehicle with an electrical system before.
In addition to the EV9, GreenPower has several other electric vehicles, such as a multi-purpose, all-electric mini bus called the EV Star. The EV Star is ADA-compliant and can be used for executive shuttles, transit or are green power mobility scooters any good; wifidb.science, microtransit vanpools, buses, and green power paratransit vehicles.
GreenPower produces around 10 EV Star busses a month for Jacksonville Transit Authority. The Jacksonville Transit Authority is replacing their older diesel vehicles fleet with 100 all-electric cars. With the Biden Administration looking to electrify school buses across the country, GreenPower plans on ramping production to meet the demand. Their EV Star bus is the first of its kind to be Altoona-tested and FMVSS-certified. Buy America compliant and ADA compliant. This will make them eligible for federal transit grants. We will be following the AV Star as it goes on its public demonstration tour the coming months. We will share more details on this innovative EV!
