World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Upgrades to items are a method to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade you choose, it may increase the rarity of an item or mark Level, and also boost other stats.
The process of upgrading gear in The War Within requires a certain number of Flightstones and Crests Each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item by a specified amount.
Item Level
When an item is upgraded, its base stats improve in value. The value is the sum of all of its leveled up perks (attack, magic attack and defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high, dependent on the upgrader and the kind of upgrade you decide to do. This is due to the fact that many perks need to be replaced to allow the item to get upgraded.
Item level is a commonly used measurement of power and can be found on all item tooltips. It also serves as a gating requirement when waiting for dungeons, raids and scenarios, and to limit the amount of PvP gear a player can wear (since PvP is capped at an lower level). The average level of an item can be found in the character sheet.
When deciding whether to buy or sell gear players can evaluate the levels of the item. It's a good indicator of the quality of an item level upgrade and the amount of damage it's capable of causing. The level of an item can be used to evaluate items when looking at the inventory of a seller.
The level of the item can be checked by pressing the ALT key on your PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the complete item description, including its ilvl. It can also be located by hovering over an item using the mouse cursor and entering /itemlevel into chat.
There are several theories about how the item level is determined. One theory is that the level is a numerical value derived from a formula which calculates the value of an item's stats are worth. It takes into consideration that different perks are valued differently, and that gems found in sockets increase the item's value. This can lead to a calculated item's ilvl that is usually very close to Blizzard's actual level of the item.
It's not the only thing that affects the value of an item. The location of where the item was dropped can alter its stats. For instance it can add a level to the item's haste or crit score. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have higher ilvl than those from lower-level instances.
Item Stats
Item stats are a big component of what makes or breaks an item for players. The game uses them in various ways to encourage players not to limit themselves to a single weapon and to encourage players to experiment with other weapons. The stat modifications of an weapon increase the base stats. These stat mods are then boosted by a player's level.
Upgrades to an item may increase the stats of an item upgrading. The costs for upgrades are determined by the rarity of the item. A white or grey item for instance, can only be upgraded one time however, items with rare tiers can be upgraded multiple times at higher costs.
Another method to alter the stats of an item is by affixing it. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and they come in all sizes and shapes. The affixes could do things like give the item additional damage, add a special capability to the item (such as reviving the dead or cutting down the duration of cooldowns) or make the item unique by adding an additional name to the item.
All affixes can be currently re-rolled by selecting them in the upgrade window pressing the green button. This procedure will cost the player a certain amount of gold and other items that can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as other rerolling options.
In addition to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may select which stats to be kept on an item when it is upgraded. The possible stat ranges of an item are determined by the item level, but every item is guaranteed to have at least 1 stat within the range, unless it is an item that is unique or an item that is a God roll from a boss in a raid.
Another thing that could be changed by adding the option to upgrade the equipment without having to reroll the affixes or choosing which stats to enhance. As with the base equipment, this must be done per item, and the item comparison interface wouldn't display all possible stats at once.
Item Luck
The Luck stat of a player can increase the likelihood of locating items, the properties that are spawned by loot and the intensity of these properties. It doesn't, however, directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players the chance to upgrade gear earlier in the game. This is especially beneficial in the early game, since players tend to prioritize the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains.
In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the probability of success when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This is not to confuse with the Blacksmith’s overall chances of upgrading, which increase with each item level. They can also be enhanced by using anti-materials such as the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.
The shields, armor and weapons come with the default Luck value of 40. These items can then be enhanced by golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the material of the item) to grant an additional +40 Luck, or to increase the luck of an item, up to 140.
Certain items, like the Hollow-infused weapon can also be outfitted to increase the damage dealt by any ability that deals damage by five percent. These items can be found in the shops or made with the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Upgrades to items are expensive and not all upgrades will succeed. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chance of success of an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their item in the event that it is not successful.
The success rate of an upgrade is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the likelihood of successful upgrading an item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special materials. The percentage of success can only be increased as high, and the probability that an upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%.
The success of an upgrade is also affected by the Luck of that item. All items have an average success rate of 25%, and each item that has Luck increases this chance by 5percent.
It is important to note that upgrade items (Tagoverflow.stream) are rendered above the items in the inventory, so enchantment glint and other effects can be obscured by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
