When you have twins, you'll need a double pushchair to get them from A to B. Our range includes twin prams pushchairs prams as well as buggies that are able to be set up in various ways to meet your requirements.
Find a pushchair that folds with one step and is easy to lift into your car. You might also want lightweight designs that are easy to navigate and manoeuvre especially if you have busy high streets to tackle.
Side-by-Side
These are the most common type of double pushchair, and can typically seat 2 children in a row. They are usually bigger than single pushchairs. This can make them less able to maneuver on the footpaths. It can also be difficult to move up and down kerbs when a car seat is attached. The extra size allows them to move more easily through doorways, and they are more evenly distributed so that it is less burdensome to carry around on your back.
They can be used as a twin pram sale from birth and many models will take both a carrycot or two car seats. Some can even convert into a single mode with an additional basket (like the Cybex Venus).
One of the most excellent examples of this is the Bugaboo Donkey 5 which, in Twin Mode, allows you to put the rear seat and a carrycot side-by-side. This creates an entirely enclosed twin space and is perfect for newborns. The pram also comes with a number of really neat accessories, including newborn cocoons, which can be attached to face either direction (for twin-parent facing pushchair prams) or facing towards the front (for a standard single). It's not as light as other options, but it's very well thought out.
Lightweight
Cybex is known for its nifty pushchairs and the single-to double is no exception. The clever frame can be expanded to take an additional seat and can be used it as a twin right from birth with the addition of two infant cocoons (PS59 each) that create enclosed lie-flat spaces for babies. The large basket of shopping behind the seat allows it to be used in mono mode with just one child. It also has a rear and front suspension to tackle bumps and uneven surfaces a little more easily. The top choice among our reviewers.
Available in a variety fashionable colors.
Tandem
If you're planning to have twins, you'll require a pushchair that is tandem. This allows both children to sit together and see each other. They are ideal for trips to the zoo, as children can look at the animals together. They're also ideal for parents who must keep an eye on their toddler and the other eye on their infant because they can see both simultaneously.
Some tandem pushchairs offer ultra flexibility since they can be converted back to single mode. This is especially handy for families with more than two kids (or only your oldest does not require a buggy anymore). This means that you won't be left with an empty pushchair to store away, which can be costly.
The Cybex Venus, for example is a model that can be used in mono or double mode. Its frame can expand to allow for an additional seat. It's not the lightest of pushchairs, but it has a large basket that can be placed behind the front seat in double mode, or at the rear when in mono mode. The seats can be set to face each other, lightweight Stroller or one could be placed higher so that it can look over the other and observe what they're doing.
Other double tandem pushchairs such as the Joolz Geo 3 can seat one on top of the other or side-by-side. The slim, sleek frame makes it easier to maneuver through doorways and supermarket aisles. Some models can also be used on uneven terrain, or for a jogging walk thanks to their large rear wheels and four-wheel suspension.
Another advantage of a tandem pushchair is that it can often use two carrycots or a car seat and buggy seat. You can save money by establishing an entire best travel pushchair system from the beginning and not making separate purchases. Remember that tandems are heavier and longer, and they may feel less stable when bumping up kerbs and going over uneven surfaces. They also tend to need dismantling in order to fit into cars.
