WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades can give you an increase in specific statistics. Each upgrade items boosts the item level by +3. A random substat is also added to every upgrade.
The upgraded gear typically has a more value in trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variation (like Eth titan weapons). Upgrades are not as valuable for those with lower requirements due to the need to roll a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. However, the item used for the upgrade will be consumed forever and can't be used again. Upgrades can be applied to enchantments.
You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks.
The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current item level of the equipment being upgraded but they will always be less expensive than purchasing new gear from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are useful items that can be used to level up weapons tools, armor, and accessories. They can be purchased by players from item upgraders NPCs in a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will display the preview of an item's next level of upgrade, if there are enough materials.
The upgrade cost depends on the slot of the item and current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than bracers or gloves, for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with some upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of Flightstones or the crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.
Many locations offer item upgraders in addition to the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon and the chance to obtain a new recipe. The upgrade discount increases according to the number of items that are being upgraded, and can be boosted by requiring players to complete specific achievements or complete quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an Item level upgrade upgrader at start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are only accessible through a variety of methods. This is both a positive and an issue.
In Season 3, the upgrade system has been modified a bit, and several new features added. After a player has earned an upgrade to a particular level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading other items to that level will cost less even if they are part of another set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones required to upgrade is reduced and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is reduced too, but it is only available once certain milestones have been reached.
Crests
When it comes to upgrading gear in WoW players have a variety of choices. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a crucial element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
First, you must be aware that Crests are only available to equipment that is that is of a particular rank. Each rank comes with distinct upgrade paths. The simplest and simplest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, contingent on the type of equipment being upgraded.
Players can obtain crests by completing content of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons of any difficulty for higher-tier items or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for gear that is used in the endgame. The crests can later be exchanged at an item upgrading upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.
The use of these currencies isn't too complicated however, the system does introduce some modifications to the upgrade items process. When a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This change is intended to allow players to upgrade their gear up to the highest level possible on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also important to use crests wisely, as they have only one purpose. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the Best item upgrader gear that you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is especially true for items like rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character, which will only be able to benefit from the discount for all accounts when all slots are filled with high-quality gear.
