WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a boosts in specific statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of the item upgrader mod by +3. Each upgrade also boosts a random substat.
The upgraded gear typically has a greater value for trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect model.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader enables players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item used for the upgrade will be consumed forever and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enhancements.
The upgrader can be found in all major cities and can be accessed anytime to upgrade items your equipment. To keep your gear up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each few weeks.
Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the item, but they will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment. For instance upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, purchasing a similar piece from another player will costs 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are functional items that can be used to level up weapons, tools, armor, and other accessories. Players can purchase them through NPCs who sell upgrades to Item Level Upgrade owners for various currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will show a preview of an item's next upgrade level, in the event that there are enough materials.
The cost of upgrading varies based on the item slot, and the current item upgrader kit level. For instance weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain degree and is degraded, it can be sold and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currencies.
Item upgraders can be found at many locations on the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount as well as a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases according to the number of items being upgraded, and can be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or complete quests.
In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no upgrader for items available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades require several methods, which is both an improvement but also a drawback.
In Season 3 the upgrade system was altered a bit, with some new features added. After a player has earned an upgrade to a certain level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading further items to that level will be less expensive, even in the event that they are part of an entirely different set of gear.
The discount applies to all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievements.
Crests
Players have a variety of options when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more special and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are a crucial part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.
The first thing to be aware of is that crests are only able to be used to purchase equipment that is of a particular rank, and that each rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and simplest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade can require up to 20 crests, based on the type or equipment being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by completing tasks at the appropriate level. This could be done by doing outdoor activities, or by completing dungeons and raids in all difficulty levels to obtain equipment of lower tier or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. The crests can then be exchanged with an item upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and pathways.
The new currency system isn't complicated to use, but it brings some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it no longer requires Flightstones. This is to allow players to upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also crucial to choose crests wisely, as they only have one use. It's Best item upgrade to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the Best item upgrader gear you can locate, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is especially true for items like trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character, which will only be able to take advantage of the account-wide discount when all slots are filled with high-quality gear.
