Diablo 4 Item Upgrades
Item upgrades allow players to increase the level of equippable items such as weapons or armor, as well as trinkets above a certain threshold. They can be obtained at any upgrader NPC using the appropriate currency.
Slots are used to add upgrade components into equipment to increase attributes and bonuses, as well as other effects. The majority of these upgrades are slot-restricted but some are universal.
Rerolling

To reroll an item players first have to unlock the Reroll Upgrade from the shop. The player can select the Reroll upgrade at the lower part of their Level Up menu once the upgrade has been unlocked. The player is able to reroll up to 10 times per battle. The weight of the Best item upgrader remains the same after rerolling, however, its power base and upgrades will be reset. After rolling again, the item will still be magically enhanced.

Each upgrade will cost a different amount of Erons and Minerals. The more powerful the upgraded item is the more expensive it will cost.
In general, weapons have a greater value in trade when upgraded completely due to their higher base damage. There are some weapons that have high trade values even if they're not upgraded as they have useful stats (e.g. Whistan's Shield is a good shield for FB Sorcs. There are also some unique and set items that don't need upgrading because they have inherently low requirements or advantages from upgrading (e.g. Naj's Puzzler staff, Goldwrap).
Certain sets have set bonuses that can provide additional effects if Link wears the whole set. These bonuses are useful for certain situations, such as exploring the Gerudo Desert and in dungeons. The Desert Voe Set, for example, has the Stealth Up feature that makes it easier to sneak by enemies.
There are also universal upgrades that can be incorporated into any type of equipment. These upgrades have lower benefits than those that are type-restricted, but they are a lot easier to acquire. Some of these upgrades can be made into gems by a jeweler. They can be used to upgrade any trinket slot. Other upgrade components can only be slotted in weapon accessories and offer a small amount of benefit without increasing damage.
Requirements
Upgrades are an important component of enhancing the power and effectiveness of your characters during combat. Item upgrades can boost an item's base stats, or even add an additional suffix or prefix. The amount of stats an item can be upgraded depends on its rarity. Upgrades are available in dungeons, raids, or bought from vendors. They can also be acquired as a random drop or taken from other players.
There is no solution to the "not worth" feeling that some players feel when they upgrade item certain items. The game should show more information on its compare interface regarding an upgrade, such as: "X stats gained, or X stats loss." This is not practical to implement because of the complexity of the process of comparing. There's not enough space in the UI to make it work.
A script that tests the requirements of an item's upgrade item before allowing the item to be upgraded is an alternative option. This is a great option for systems that have a limited amount of upgradeable items and a minimal upgrade dependence. A sword can be upgraded from Sword+1 to Sword+2. A script could look for the Item Definition attribute for each upgrade, and then change the Item Status to "upgraded" in order to indicate that the upgrade was valid.
This solution is more flexible than the other two, but it requires a bit of additional code. It's also not suitable for extremely complex systems.
A second solution would be to allow players to upgrade their armor and weapons. These upgrades, often referred to as reforges by some, increase the stats of the item and reduce its cost. The power of reforges differs depending on the type, but the Orb of Transmutation or Orb of Embrace are the most powerful.
Costs
Upgrades can boost the physical power of equipment, its spell power, and health (for rings and armor) or provide an additional bonus effect while it is in your inventory. You can get upgrade elements through crafting or buy them from vendors. They can also be looted, dropped by other players on the Trading Post, or as rewards. Upgrade components can be inserted into armor, weapons and trinkets. They can also be connected to gathering tools. The majority of upgrade components can be replaced by an Upgrade Extractor. The only exception is the glyphs. They can be salvaged by using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or Ascended Salvage tool.
Upgrades to an item can cost gold and/or Dilithium depending on the type of item. In addition, many upgrades require Flightstones and/or crests. The amount of crests and Flightstones required to upgrade an item varies on the level of the gear, and a maximum upgrade level is established by Blizzard. Upgrading to the highest upgrade level can be expensive especially when you're upgrading PvE gear.
The upgrades to items can also alter a weapon's ammunition type or damage die size change its operative or unwieldy weapon's property, or change its hand requirement. Some upgrades can change the appearance of weapons.
While boosting stats is the primary goal of upgrading items however, you must consider the cost of upgrading an item prior to making a decision. You might want to make use of your gold for upgrading rare items, but do not spend it on standard or items of the magic-tier. The upgrading of these items wastes valuable resources, and you'll soon find that rare gear outclasses them.
If you're not sure whether an upgrade is worth it Ask your fellow guild members for their advice. You might be able to get better upgrades for less cost. It is a good idea to upgrade your equipment as quickly as you can, since upgrades will cost more as time passes. If you can't afford the upgrade costs it might be better to put off the upgrade.
