World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
Upgrades to items allow players to increase an item Upgrader mod's gear score up to 700 and add a final perk. Items can be upgraded by keeping them in inventory before heading to the kiln.
Certain items are worth upgrading due to their distinctive stats. (For example, a perfectly rolled breakpoint armor used in melee PvP). Other items like weapons don't really change after an upgrade and aren't worth it.
Weapons
Upgrades to weapons can boost their numerical stats, like attack damage, crit chance, and PvE/PvP damage. Weapons come with a flat-rate bonus that increases damage per second. A lot of weapons also come with a fixed bonus which is activated when three or more identical weapons are equipped in a unit. In certain instances, this bonus can add up to more than the amount of damage that a weapon upgrades by itself.
A weapon's upgrade costs depend on the nature of the weapon as well as its current level. For example, an +2 weapon will require two regular Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones required to upgrade a weapon will continue to rise until it requires the higher level of Smithing Stones, at which the amount will be reset to one.
Upgrades to weapons can also reroll the stats of their base. While this is usually beneficial however, it could have negative consequences as well. For items that are only used in a certain build (Whistant's shield for FB Sorcs, for example) upgrading them can make them unusable unless you happen to have an extremely fortunate roll.
Armor items can also be upgraded to boost their effectiveness. For example, if you upgrade a helm or chest, it will boost the defense of its base, while a belt and gloves will improve their required strength and dexterity. Armor has a rerolling feature for its Enhanced Defense percent. This means that it may reroll down to a lower value.
The upgrade template of a weapon will show the new stats it will gain upon upgrading along with the relative values of those stats. This means that a weapon will gain 3% attack damage if it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. The 3% doesn't mean that the weapon will strike 3 times less, as it is an absolute number.
Rerolling a weapon is possible by pressing the green button in the item upgrade menu with the circling arrows. This will reroll the item and alter its stats, however, it will not reset the weapon's level nor bind to account status.
Armor
A few armor upgrades can make all the difference to your survivability. Certain sets offer massive increases in poison, curse, fire and magic resistance, making the journey through difficult terrain a breeze. In general, the greater defense you can offer your character, the greater health you can gain from each point. Therefore, it's a good idea to upgrade your armor.
To upgrade your armor, go to one of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four Great Fairy Fountains in the game and to unlock each fountain, you have to complete a side quest that involves the Stable Trotters. After you've completed your main quest and the corresponding fountains, you'll have the option of talking to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the menu for upgrading armor.
Each piece of armor can be upgraded up to three levels and the amount of material and Rupees needed for each will vary. In general, you'll be looking at anything from three to ten Red Chuchu Jellies and ten Rupees for the first upgrade, and then anywhere from five Rubies and ten Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns for each subsequent upgrade. For example the Champion Leathers can be upgraded to +5 defense, allowing you to keep up with a good-sized group of adversaries in most cold environments, and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded up to +20 defense, providing you enough protection to survive the full-on assault with a few of your friends.
You can't upgrade your armor the same as weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior it is best to focus on upgrading your armor to increase physical strength or the power of spells. It's also worthwhile to save your armor upgrades for the armor you'll still be wearing at the end of the game, like the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield or the helmet you wear to fight the final boss as well as the Monter Parts merchant's mask.
You can also gain advantages to your armor by giving the jeweler in Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. You'll generally want to save these upgrades for the weapon you'll be using to beat the game. For instance, the Longsword or Battleaxe. However, it's beneficial to have some upgrades to the helmets and chest armor to let you sneak around some monsters.
Potions
Potions are liquids that, when consumed by the participant, produce an immediate effect for a short period of time. There are five types of potions with different effects and durations. Some potions can be upgraded, increasing their effectiveness. You can also enhance the effects of certain potions by including glowstone dust and redstone.
Potion upgrades cost a specific amount of XP. These can be earned by making them on a table or in an Alchemist's chest. However, the upgrade item price is dependent on the kind of potion you wish to upgrade, as well as on the item's Mark Level and Rarity.
To upgrade a potions simply right-click on it in your inventory. Then, select "Upgrade" from the menu. This will open an GUI which allows you to select the potions that you want to upgrade and the amount of experience they will provide when upgraded. You can upgrade potions in batches of up to five at a time and their XP will be added to the total XP you have.
Once a potion has been upgraded, it won't degrade until you re-use it, or break the bottle it is stored in. Clicking on the potion in your inventory will also allow you to change the name of the potion.
Version 1.7.2 introduced a few changes to the mechanics of potions. Splash potions, for example have now a duration of 0:08 instead of the 22.5 seconds displayed on the item upgrader hover display. The potion table can now be crafted with four Wood Planks and two Glass. It can now be used in both Survival and Bedrock. Unlike the Java Edition, Bedrock edition potions can't be mixed in cauldrons. The same is true for the use of a potion in the cauldron that is filled. This will drain the potion and refill the bottle.
In addition, there are lingering potions that are brewed using dragon breath and splash potions. Redstone can be added to lingering potions to enhance their effects. The potion table has been rearranged to appear more like the Java Edition. New potions have also been added such as the potion of leaping as well as decomposition.
Trinkets
A trinket is a small and affordable ornament or piece of jewelry. It can also refer to a piece of art or a decoration that serves a purpose but is not particularly important like a tiny thimble. In certain cultures, a trinket is a way to express friendship or affection between family members.
In addition to armor, weapons, and potions, players can upgrade their trinkets. Upgrades can be purchased by paying the appropriate currency to an upgrade vendor. Trinkets, unlike other items that can be upgraded, can be traded at will without losing statistics.
The upgrade vendors can be found in major cities and in the capital of each zone, as well as in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are purchased with gold, tokens or fragments of a rare trinket.
Upgrading a trinket is an affordable alternative to buying new ones. It is possible to upgrade a player for less than 12 tokens. The new trinket comes with the same base level as the old trinket but will also have an additional bonus of 1% upgrade items.
Trinkets can be upgraded when they're no longer needed, allowing a player to increase their power and value over time. They can be traded among players, making them an alternative to gold.
In general players should make upgrades to their most important items first. This usually refers to the most valuable-in-slot items for their class, followed by their secondaries, and finally other items of gear they won't replace in the near future (for instance, a ring or cloak). Players should also take into consideration their class's preferred stats when deciding which items to upgrade. For instance, if Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for a tank, they should be focusing on upgrading their helm, chest shoulders, belt, and chest.
After they've become unusable trinkets can be upgraded to a greater level. The new trinket has an additional 1% bonus. Re-upgrading will cause the trinket to be destroyed unless it is saved using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or a salvage tool. Upgrades to trinkets can be more expensive than other upgrades but still less expensive than buying an entirely new trinket.
