WoW Upgrades - The item upgrade Upgrader
Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the item level by +3. Each upgrade also increases the random substatus.
Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like the eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less valuable for those with higher variance because of the requirement to roll a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher item level upgrade level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any type of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can be used to create enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in all major cities, and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your equipment. To keep your gear current it is recommended you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks.
Upgrades will cost more, based on the item level, however they'll always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points, purchasing a similar piece from a different player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used for tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from NPCs of item upgrade upgraders in a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon or armor. button, which will show an item's preview at its next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.
The cost of upgrading varies based on the slot of the item and the current item level. For example weapons cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with some upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of Flightstones or crests that are used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain degree and is degraded, it can be sold and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currencies.
Many locations offer item upgraders which include the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade item coupon as well as the possibility of obtaining the latest recipe. The upgrade discount increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or complete quests.
Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no item upgrader available in the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are available only through a variety means. This is both a positive and an issue.
In Season 3, several new features were added to the upgrade system. After an upgrade has been completed to a certain level of Item level upgrade for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level, will cost less. This applies regardless of whether the items are from a different set of gear.
The discount applies to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain milestones in their achievement.
Crests
Players have several options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.
The first thing to note is that crests are only able to be spent on gear of a specific rank, and each rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the more complex one may require as many as 20 crests, based on the kind of gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by working through content at the appropriate level. This could be by doing outdoor activities or completing dungeons and raids in all difficulty levels to obtain lower-level gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons with heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. The crests can later be exchanged at an upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.
The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, but it does bring some changes to the upgrade process. Once a piece of gear attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it no longer requires Flightstones. This is to allow players to upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible for all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.
Another significant change is that crests have one use and it's crucial to use them properly. It is recommended to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment you can find, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly true for items like rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character that will be able to take advantage of the account-wide discount if all of the slots are filled with top-quality gear.
