World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades can be used to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade, it may boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity and boost additional stats.
Each item has a track to upgrade it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a set amount.
Item Level
The value of an item's base stats increases when it is upgraded. The value is the sum of the perks that are leveled up (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive depending on the person you hire and what you decide to do. This is due to the variety of perks that have to be modified to upgrade an item.
The level of an item is a widely used measurement of power and can be seen on all tooltips for items. It is also used to limit how much PvP gear players can use, since PvP is limited at lower levels. Players can see their average level of item on their character sheet.
When deciding to purchase or sell gear players can look at the levels of the item. It's a measure of the item's damage and quality. Comparing items from a vendor's stock can be done using the item's level.
On PC, you are able to check the level of the item by pressing ALT or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. The item will be displayed with its full description, including the ilvl. It can also be found by hovering over an item using the mouse cursor and entering /itemlevel into chat.
There are a variety of theories on the method by which the level of an item is calculated. One theory is that the item level is a number that comes from a formula that determines how much an item's stats are worth. It is based on the fact that different advantages are valued differently and that gems in sockets increase the item's value. This could result in an item's ilvl which is calculated and is typically very close to Blizzard's actual item upgrader mod (discover this) level.
However, this isn't the only factor which can affect an item's ilvl since the size of the area the item was dropped in could alter the value of its stats, for example by adding a level to its haste or crit rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have more the ilvl than items from lower level instances.
Item Stats
The item's stats can be the difference between a good or bad item for players. The game uses them in a variety of ways to encourage players not to limit themselves to one weapon and to motivate players to explore other weapons. The stat mods of a weapon boost the base stats. These stat mods are then enhanced by a player's level.
Upgrades to an item can boost its stats. The rarity of an item determines its upgrade cost. An item that is white or grey for instance, can only be upgraded once, while an item with rare tiers may be upgraded multiple times at higher costs.
Affixes can also be used to change an item's stats. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and are available in all shapes and sizes. The affixes are used to give items additional damage, special capabilities (such as the ability to revive dead or reduce cooling downs), or to make them unique by adding a name.
All affixes are being re-rolled right now by selecting them in the upgrade window, and pressing the green button. This procedure will cost the player a specific amount of gold and other items that can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as other rerolling options.
In addition to rerolling affixes, players can select which stats to be kept on an item after it is upgraded. The range of stats determined by the item's level. However every item will include at least one stat in the range, unless they are a unique item, or a God Roll from a boss in a raid.
Another thing that could be altered by adding an option to upgrade the equipment without rolling the affixes or deciding which stats to increase. Similar to base equipment, it must be done per item, and the interface for item comparison would not display all the possible stats at once.
Item Luck
The Luck stat of a player can increase the likelihood of locating items, the properties that are generated by loot, and the intensity of these properties. However, it does not directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It merely gives players a chance to acquire better equipment earlier in the game, and is therefore more useful in early game runs as opposed to later ones, since most players prefer higher weapon scaling and defenses over damage gains.
In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the chance of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith’s overall chances of upgrading that increase with each new level of item. It is also possible to be enhanced by using anti-materials, such as a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.
Weapons, shields, and armor can be made or spawn with the Luck property, with the default value of 40. These items can be augmented with golden ingots, or spined leather (depending on the type of material) to add another 40 luck, or to increase the Luck of an item up to 140.
Additionally, certain items, like the Hollow weapon, which is infused with Hollow can be outfitted to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items can be bought at the store or constructed using the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Not all upgrades are successful. However, there are cash shop items that allow players to increase their chance of success or stop themselves from losing an item in the event that the upgrade fails.
When you upgrade an item, the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage is the chances of successfully upgrading that item and can be enhanced by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The percentage of success can only be increased as high, and the probability that an upgrade will fail can't exceed 100%..
The performance of an can be affected by the luck of the item. Every item has an average success rate of 25 percent and every item with Luck increases the chance of success by 5percent.
The upgrade overlays for items are displayed above items in the inventory. This can cause obscurity to enchantment effects or other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
