There are many ways to upgrade your armour, but the majority of them require you to visit one of four Great Fairy Fountains scattered throughout Hyrule. Each fountain provides a different degree of improvement with higher levels of protection that require more rupees and materials.
First, Armor Upgrades are permanent upgrades. Once they've been applied and removed, they cannot be reverted until you own a different piece of gear with the same upgrade item. Weapons

You'll require both the upgrade component and the weapon itself to upgrade it. The weapon should also be at a certain level for the upgrade to be effective and most weapons can only take one upgrade at one time.
Weapon upgrade components can be found scattered throughout the world, from enemies or from merchants. Upgrade components are a mix of components that you can incorporate into armors, weapons trinkets, gathering tools and trinkets in order to gain an attribute bonus. They require that the equipment be of a certain level to allow the upgrade. They can be upgraded in the same manner as other items.
The upgrades themselves are a combination of Smithing Stones and Runes, and are used for enhancing the stats of the base weapon and improving its scaling with other stats. These upgrades are available from enemies in the open world or from merchants. They can also be dropped by combat.
Two NPCs can upgrade your weapon: the Blacksmith Hewg in the Roundtable Hold hub zone and the Smithing Master Iji, in the Road to Manor hub zone. Both of these NPCs accept your Smithing Stones or Runes to upgrade your weapon.
Prioritize upgrading your best-in slot items first. Then upgrade those that you won't replace soon. If you're planning on playing in a melee-based build, for example upgrade your weapon first, then your shoulders and chest before your hands and feet. The same principle applies to Magic and Utility Items. But, depending on the style you play, certain procs will be more useful than others. Similar is the case for Armour, with some reforges being better than others.
Magic Items
A character is able to upgrade only one magic item. If an upgrade project has been canceled, no further upgrades will be planned for that item. Magic items that are upgraded cost twice the gold they would normally cost to create or purchase however, they also have extra benefits.
A magical item is an item that has some special properties or effects. These items are mostly weapons, but they can also be armors, shields, cloaks and potions. They could also be rings, scrolls, or other items. Some of these items can be made to speak.
Many magic items can enhance their capabilities. This makes them more useful to a player, or it can aid them in overcoming an especially difficult challenge. A weapon infused with a special substance might, for instance, provide additional damage against a specific enemy type. This is particularly useful for characters who have reached a point at which they will likely face the same type of monster repeatedly in dungeons.

Utility Items
Utility items are any equipment that isn't part of the categories of Armor or Clothing and have a variety of capabilities. Utility items aren't compatible with each other, in contrast to Armor or Weapons. Most utility items have an effect that a player can activate by using them, but some also have additional capabilities that are activated when the user presses the button or activates a skill.
The Flashlight is the most commonly used utility item. It illuminates the area around it. Players can unlock more powerful utility items in addition to those that are available in their normal inventory by purchasing them from the Atomic Shop or from seasonal Scoreboard rewards. Some of these items can be upgraded to allow greater effectiveness.
The majority of utilitarian items give the player a navigational advantage or increase a specific combat ability. Sharpening stones, crafted by an Weaponsmith, increase Power and Ferocity. Maintenance Oils, crafted by an Huntsman, increase Concentration and healing power. Other items that are useful can be utilized by players to increase Damage or Condition Damage.
XCOM soldiers can equip one utility item to begin the campaign. A second slot is available once you have completed certain research, engineering, or research projects on the Proving Ground.
