WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a boosts in certain statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by +3. Each upgrade also increases the random substatus.
Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless the item has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the need to roll to get a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can be used to create Enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in every major city, and can be visited anytime to upgrade your gear. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader once every couple of weeks to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.
The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current level of the item being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than buying new gear from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item upgrader kit will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are functional items that can be used to level up weapons and tools, armor and other accessories. They can be purchased through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners for various currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any tool, weapon or armor. button, which displays an image of the item at its next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.
The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item and the current level of the item upgrading, with weapons costing more than bracers or gloves, for example. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of the Flightstones or crests that are used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain amount and is degraded, it can be sold and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currencies.
Upgraders for items are available in a variety of locations, including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount as well as a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrading increases as more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.
In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no item upgrader available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that can be used to upgrade are acquired via various methods that are both an improvement but also a drawback.
In Season 3, the upgrade system has been altered a bit, with some new features added. When a player has an upgrade to a certain item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading other items to that level will cost less, even when they are part of a different gear set.
The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is account-wide. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is reduced also, but is only available after certain milestones are achieved.
Crests
Players have several choices when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an item level upgrade that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more special, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a crucial part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.
First, you must be aware that the crests can only be purchased for equipment that is that is of a particular rank. Each rank has a different upgrade path. The most basic and straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complicated may require as many as 20 crests, based on the type of gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through finishing content at the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of any difficulty for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for endgame gear. These crests are then exchanged with an upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade the item upgrader kit in the proper steps and pathways.
Using these new currencies isn't too complicated, but the system introduces some changes to the overall upgrade process. When a piece attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it will no longer require Flightstones. This change lets players upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.
Another important change is that crests have one use therefore it's essential to use them properly. It is Best item upgrader to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment that you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is especially applicable to items like rings and trinkets that occupy multiple slots. The discount on the account will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
