World of Warcraft Upgrades and item upgrading (mouse click the next article)
Upgrades can boost the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. They also boost extra bonuses, such as damage from PvE and crit chance.
For instance, a weapon with the upgrade template that is ending in % will suffer 3damage to attack each time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).
Item upgrading costs crests and the item's current level. The cost increases as the level of the item increases.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be put into armor, weapons and trinkets to provide an additional stat boost or effect when they're used. These can be obtained through crafting, purchasing from vendors, trading or looting. Certain upgrades have unique cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment with a slot for them; the item must be at least upgraded to the blue level to allow a component to be applied. In contrast to other mods components can only be used once and can't be used multiple times or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a specific kind of upgrade component used for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment and some of the items that are not ascending back. Enrichments and Infusions can be obtained by salvaging equipment from the ascended state or completing a mission in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.
A prefix or suffix may be added to an upgrade, which alters the name of the item it's used on (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia',' changes to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity, which allows players to create stronger versions of that equipment using less upgrade items Crystals than is required to achieve the same level of upgrade using normal methods.
A 'boost upgrade' can alter the attack or defense attributes of a weapon or armor. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist the upgrades can be crafted at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades are available for purchase them in the cash shop or getting them from enemies while upgrading other gear.
The player is able to have a maximum of five boost upgrades at a time; each upgrade increases the probability that a better-quality version of the item will drop in the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to continue upgrading their gear, even if they're unsure of how much it will improve following a subsequent reset.
Whether a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process may be expensive, and there is a high possibility that the item will become obsolete or even break if it fails; a failure to upgrade can cause the destruction of Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to decrease or eliminate the possibility of failure. Some upgrades also offer an additional bonus when they are reinserted.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to upgrade the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets that are specifically designed for. Glyphs can boost the performance of nodes within a radius, and include any pre-existing affixes. Glyphs can be upgraded many ways, and we recommend getting them up to level 15 whenever you can.
It is commonplace to see in the endgame that placing Glyphs is a great way to upgrade your gear. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded straight to level 15 and offer significant boosts to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to get higher nodes much faster.
The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced however, Glyphs are only the one upgrade component that can be removed and put back in place without any restrictions. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and replace.
The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it in your inventory. You can replace it with an Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to increase the value of the Glyph.
Glyphs can be found in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of an Gem Store bundle or purchase, with certain unlimited-use tools as well as during Faction Crypt Raids. Every Faction Crypt will drop one of these Glyphs. There are some rare glyphs which you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.
Once you have gotten the desired Glyphs you'll require them to be placed on your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a unique bonus that can boost the stats of a specific set of nodes within a radius around the Glyph. Depending on the Glyph it could be +40 to one of your primary stats or +25 to two of your secondary stats.
Glyphs increase the number of nodes connected to them, therefore it is best to put Glyphs in key locations on the Graph. This will increase the impact. For example that a Druid should try to place their Glyphs close to their primary damage points, however, you may also want to consider placing them near critical damage nodes too.
Leveling
The item upgrading system lets players increase the effectiveness of specific items by putting upgraded components into them. This is also known as "upping". Each upgradeable item has a level which determines the final stats. Upgraded items may be leveled up to a maximum of 385. Each item level requires a different number of components, and the upgrade costs increase as the item is advanced in level.
Certain upgrades require a certain ingredient to activate. This ingredient can be obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table or purchased from some NPCs. Each completed Upgrade Recipe earns some Technology Points. These points can be used to level the item, and when enough points are earned, the upgrade can be claimed and the additional bonuses will be added to the item.
When a player upgrade the equipment they have, the base item will be replaced by a new item. This means that the same piece of armor will be transformed into an weapon or shield once upgraded. The new item comes with its own set of bonuses. This could be a drawback, as it can make the item more expensive if you do not require it.
If the player has enough tokens, they can roll the upgrade of their item. The item will be replaced with an entirely new item that has a base of level 1 and totally different bonuses. This can be useful, but should not be repeated often since it could waste resources.
Some upgrades can increase their value and allow players to modify their equipment. One example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives a buff when the player is repeatedly in and out of the water (or does not swim as dolphins). It can be upgraded multiple times, each time increasing the max roll by an increment of 10. This item can be very valuable in PvP as an item upgrader kit that is properly rolled it can be worth between 20 and 50 times its non-upp'd value.
Requirements
Item upgrading allows players to upgrade the level of their equippable equipment--armor, weapons, and trinkets above ilvl 385--by providing the appropriate items and currencies to an NPC who upgrades items. Upgrades to armor set pieces also increase the base defense of the item, and upgrading weapons will increase the base damage and required strength and dexterity to match the requirements of the upgraded equipment.
All items can be upgraded up to five times, with the exception of hero gear which can have eight upgrades. Each when you upgrade an item, it is given the chance to fail. The failure rate increases the farther you go beyond the maximum amount of upgrades. Failures can result in the item returning to its original condition and the player having to spend additional resources than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum amount.
If an item isn't upgraded the experience bar in the bar for growth will be reset to zero. The item also loses any bonuses it gained like crit chance damage to attack, other effects (such as a higher healing rate over time or the speed of reloading). The player will be able to use their weapon or armor even after the failure.
Whenever an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that when a weapon is upgraded, if it receives a crit chance boost that it will be applied before any damage from attacks increases. A new attribute called Slots is now added to the item upgrade's definition and the value is recomputed every time an upgrade is made.
The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating and number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equivalent to its value. For example an item that is commonplace could have five upgrades for a price of. 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Opportunity. Hero quality items are less expensive per upgrade.
Premium items might have different upgrade requirements from regular gear. For example, they may need less sowels, however they may require more minerals and orons. However, players must visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they want to upgrade. Each equipment upgrade will require different amounts of upgrade ingredients in addition to the expenses that are listed above.
