Any item upgrader NPC can be found in the game. These NPCs are located in major questing areas or capital cities. Players can also find item upgraders by visiting dungeons with high-level bosses and by chatting with NPCs in their faction's garrisons.
The World of Warcraft item upgrade system allows players to increase the level of weapons, armor and trinkets. A player can turn an item to upgrade it into another item by selecting it and pressing the green button an arrow for reroll. This will change the layout of the item window and allow players to select up to six items to "recycle". The item level upgrade will be replaced with one of the level 1 items. Recycled items don't keep their level or the amount of resources used to upgrade them.
An item's maximum upgrade level is determined by its tier and quality. Rare and Epic items can be upgraded to levels of nine, while common items are only upgraded up to level six.
