Path of Exile item upgrade Upgrading
Item upgrading allows players to improve their weapons and gear by adding new affixes that boost the base stats of the item or giving additional benefits. To upgrade an item upgrading, the player has to have it in their inventory as well as access to the kiln.
Usually items with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base, while items with strong bases such as Eth titans don't change in their stats following being upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components are items that can be incorporated into weapons, armor, trinkets and gathering tools, giving an attribute bonus or additional effect when the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, or found in loot, thrown away by enemies or received as rewards from missions or chests. Certain upgrades come with additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require the equipment to be at a certain level before they are upgraded.
To upgrade a weapon or piece of armor, the player must select it and then click on the Upgrade button located in the toolbar. This will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview that shows the expected upgrade statistics and the components or materials required for the upgrade.
There are three types of upgrade components: universal upgrades, prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, like gems, can be placed on any type of equipment. They offer a lesser bonus than upgrade components that are subject to a type limitation. Infusions, which can only be placed in gear that is ascended and legendary equipment are similar to gems, but offer higher bonuses and cannot be placed in any other kind of equipment. Suffix upgrades are able to be placed in gathering tools, add their name to the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for example adding the word Glyph to a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor will change it to a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
If an individual upgrades a gathering tool and replaces the glyphs with a different one the old one will be returned to their inventory. However, replacing any other upgrade component will destroy it, with the exception of the inscriptions that can be swapped.
Leveling
The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some significant variations from previous versions. Gear is now divided into tracks and items can only be upgraded a certain number of times before they're "leveled out." The cost of upgrading increases with each level, but the materials required for upgrades do not. This allows players to focus their efforts on a handful of important items to maximize their impact, rather than spreading out the cost of upgrades across several items.
This allows the item to receive new upgrade components, and have a greater chance of success. This bonus is known as Artisan's Energy. It will reset at 0 if the upgrade fails, or increases if the upgrade succeeds.
Once a piece is upgraded to its maximum level, it will be able to receive the affixes needed to enhance its abilities. The amount of affixes available is determined by the item's class. For instance an uncommon or unique weapon with a standard base will only have two affixes. A legend armor will have eight affixes.
Each upgrade requires an amount of Flightstones and crests based on the item's current level and the item slot it's in. Typically, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other kinds of equipment.
If an item fails to attain its maximum level, the NPC grants players the option to transfer it to another character and then re-infuse it with a different set of upgrades. This process can take up to two hours and costs the same amount of material, though it will result in lower chances of success.
Engineers will utilize a level to compare the height of the building with a known point, like a benchmark. This process is known as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod, and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method guarantees that buildings are constructed to an extremely high degree of precision and safety.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is an important aspect of the game and can significantly improve an item's strength, damage, or other attributes. This can be accomplished through the item menu or by using the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling is costly and should only be done in the rarest of circumstances.
Reroll tokens are derived by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item or an item of the same type. Recyclable items come with an indicator that indicates the amount of upgrade. The rarity and cost of upgrading an item upgrader mod determines the level of filling.
Prior to this, some upgrades were given priority affixes, which made them easier to roll. It meant that you'd get the most crucial stats for your build more frequently than others. These included things like the armor's total armor, thorns, and duration reduction stats that are controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.
This was changed in the latest patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same chance of rolling for all stats. This could be a positive or a negative thing depending on your needs and wants from your equipment.
Each upgraded item upgrader mod may also have a unique, fixed-value bonus that increases its strength by a certain percentage. These bonuses are added to the standard affixes. The more you upgrade an item, the greater your chance of getting a unique bonus.
The game also features several sets, which give a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are installed on an item. This is a great method of giving a character a lot more power without spending a ton of money.
Many players have the habit of rerolling their weapons and gear particularly in the initial stages. This is because rerolling could provide a much faster path to a powerful character, allowing them to reach higher levels and progress in the game more quickly.
Sets
Sets are collections of elements that can be put together in a variety of ways. They can be of various sizes, contain no elements at all or contain a single element. They can be used for organizing data or separating information. They can also be used to analyze patterns. Sets can be classified in a variety of ways such as size and shape.
The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom offers a wide range of upgradeable set items. Some are worth upgrading, others aren't. Sets of armor that offer high defense or set bonuses are usually worth upgrading. However, upgrades to weapons typically do not improve the item's stats much as compared to their counterparts in purple. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if you already have lots of armor or weapons already.
Set items can be upgraded to include specific functions that are beneficial for certain builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, boosting their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement were increased as well).
Upgrades can also be made to bring certain items up to par with the levels. For example, the Immortal King set has a wide range of levels, ranging between 29 and 76. Upgrades to lower level items can improve their defense, and increase their competitiveness when it comes to damage.
To determine if an item is worth upgrading, players should click the Upgrade button on the character screen. The item's attributes will be displayed together with any required items. To upgrade item the No-mouth face for instance, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also check the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.
In general, weapons and armor are more valuable when they are updated. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons that have spell/weapon-damage glyphs. This will result in a significant increase in their performance. This will also boost the defense of armor with an updated look.
