1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO is similar to its sibling the i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is an excellent option for those looking for a a fully automated, hands-off cleaning experience, but want to manually empty the robot's dustbin when it is full.
Both robots are good at picking up surface dirt on hard floors and carpets and can navigate around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes a smart maps of your home that aid the i3+ in its navigation and clean up efficiently. However, unlike the i7+ or other top-rated robots we tested the i3+ does not have obstacle-avoidance capabilities, so it may get stuck on things such as socks or power cords, and it may have trouble in navigating through transitions between surfaces, such as from hardwood to rug.
iRobot recommends you clear out areas that the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, which includes clearing out any toys or clutter it may come across. Also, keep the dustbin and filter free of dirt to prevent them from getting blocked. When the i3+ EVO’s internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station, and it automatically takes the dirt out of the docking station's external dustbin. It then continues cleaning where it started. The i3+ EVO's batteries last for approximately an hour and a half continuous use. It takes about three hours to fully recharge.
2. Roomba from iRobot
The iRobot i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line and is packed with the latest technology. It's self-charging and self-navigating. -- the most important feature of all -- it has a self-emptying dustbin that eliminates one of the main sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.
The Roomba i7+ is able to remember up to 10 floor plans and their names thanks to Imprint Smart Mapping, a system that allows it to map rooms so it can clean them more efficiently. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can direct your robot using the app or by voice.
In our testing the i7+ was faster and more maneuverable than our runner-up, the eufy RoboVac G30, and it took large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces kinds, including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy the dust bin is self-emptying that eliminates a major source of maintenance and lowers recurring costs.
We were also awestruck by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services, which we used to instruct the automatic hoover robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning routines, move itself around the room and vacuum an area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. Once connected we were able to use the i7+'s voice commands like "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s preferences and monitoring its performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
In a world of cordless vacs that look like minivans or buses, this small Dyson model feels like an automobile. It is powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in the majority of homes, yet it is also small enough to fit on a bookcase or coffee table.
The V10 is powered by a 7-cell energy-dense Lithium-ion battery that produces power without fading for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filtering system is able to trap allergens and then releases cleaner air into your home. The cleaning head is specially designed to drive bristles of nylon that are stiff and deep into carpet to suck up large crumbs and fine dust. It comes with three suction settings to suit the task being performed. It quickly converts from handheld vacuum to floor vacuum and back again.
The model comes with a dock that can charge the Dyson to 100 percent within 3.5 hours. It also offers an easy access to two attachments as well as a wand. This is a major improvement over older Dysons that require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.
The main issue with the V10 is its limited running time. Its claims on the market that it has up to 60 minutes of run time are a bit misleading, as CR's testing shows. This is a common battery-powered vacuum's run time. This is enough time to clean the typical home, but not enough to reach every area. (A second time generally works). This doesn't mean that this model doesn't have its advantages: It's lighter and maneuverable than older cordless Dysons and its vacuuming performance is noticeably better on carpets with low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694"
One of the most well-known robot vacuums the 694 is a basic model that's an excellent option for those who don't want to invest too much on a robot. It's capable of sucking up most kinds of debris in our tests, and it frequently goes over the same areas multiple times to give a thorough clean. Its flat front end helps to get into corners and along the walls' edges, which is a nice addition.
Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt technology to avoid obstacles and navigate your home. However, it isn't equipped with the ability to map that is found in more advanced models, like our top picks, i3+EVO and the j7+ Series. The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694 in that it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning, comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtration system, incurs lower recurring cost and is more sophisticated in its automation capabilities and is able to better navigate itself. It also has a larger dustbin, and charges more quickly.
The eufy RoboVac X8 has a superior battery longevity than the Roomba 694. It also has physical boundaries strips and can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It's also more durable, has a stronger motor, and performs better on floors with bare or low-pile.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a brand you see on all sorts of electronic gadgets for your home It's no surprise that they're one of the top robotic vacuum and mop makers. Jet Bot AI+ has the most advanced onboard technology for navigation and obstacle avoidance.

In our testing our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and handled dog hair (on carpet) very well, picking up 86% of it. It's priced higher than other models we've tested and this could be a deal breaker for some buyers.
