Vacuuming With a Robot Hoover is the Best Hands-Off Model We've Tested

This top-of-the-line Eufy bot is the most hands-off model that we have tried so far. It vacuums, mops and self-empties its bin and washes and dries mop pads with no intervention from you.

It doesn't have advanced cleaning functions or a more powerful docking system, but it delivers amazing performance for less than half the cost of the top robotic vacuums. It's compact and can be positioned to reach under furniture.

Vacuuming

Vacuuming with a robot hoover is a simple, quick way to keep your floors clean and tidy. A majority of the robots featured that we have selected are designed to operate without your intervention You can set them to run while you're away or initiate cleaning sessions using your smartphone. You'll want to select an excellent robot that can navigate and object detection to avoid it getting stuck in furniture or on the staircase.

Some models are better at picking up pet hairs from rugs than others, which is why it's also important to choose a robot that can efficiently and effectively clean all types of flooring. Choose a model that has a an empty bin that is able to hold plenty of dirt in between emptying and the nozzle does not lose suction as it rotates to get rid of debris.

Most robots require minimal to any maintenance, other than removing tangled fur from the rotating brush after each cleaning session (and wiping its camera or sensors when needed) and then periodically emptying the bin or using the robot's self-emptying base. If you follow these simple maintenance steps, your robot vac should last just as long as a regular vacuum and help keep your home looking cleaner for longer.

While robot mops tend to be less flexible than their vacuum counterparts Some have the ability to suck up spills and puddles while at it. The iLife V3s Pro is an example of a machine which is a good option for those with hardwood floors or a combination of rugs and carpets. It is quiet and has excellent navigation capabilities, which allowed it to avoid obstacles during testing. The charging dock can also function as a trash bin.

Select a robotic vacuum cleaner that is able to mop at the same time. Karcher's RCV 5 does this, and it also comes with other useful features, such as live cameras that broadcasts a grainy picture to your app, so that you can monitor your pet or kids and remote controls that are easily programmable. Its navigation isn't as reliable as other models we've reviewed however it is able to lift it over low thresholds and has a generous 500ml dustbin that doesn't need to be cleaned frequently.

Mopping

Robots that vacuum and mop are a fairly new addition to the market. These robots are more expensive and require a separate tank of water, unlike standalone robots. However, they may be worth the extra cost for those who have staining that is difficult to clean or pets.

Some of the top robots can clean floors and carpets and also vacuum. Many brands are now offering all-in-one robotics that perform both tasks with ease. The Combo J9+, as an instance, is among the top mopping machines we've tested. It comes with an impressively large dock that can accommodate up to 60 days worth of dirt. This is a huge improvement over the Qrevo Pro, which ran out of water after mopping just 30 days worth of dirt in our tests.

The Tapo RV30 Plus from networking giant TP Link is another excellent two-in-one. It's quiet, compact and has a neat, easy-to-clean appearance. In our test rooms it cleaned the floors efficiently and thoroughly. It was particularly adept at cleaning rugs. However, it required several runs to clean some areas of stained wood. Its LIDAR navigation is very effective, too. It is able to avoid hitting furniture or running over power cables.

It's a bit sluggish on the stairs but that's expected from a compact robot that is designed to work around obstacles. The only issue is that the mopping pads are difficult to attach and didn't stay put during our tests, and it isn't equipped to deal with dirt that has dried that makes it more like a vacuum cleaner rather than a full-fledged mop.

Despite these issues however, it's a great option for those looking for an easy-to-clean experience that can take care of bare and low-pile carpets with equal competence. It has decent suction, which helped it to clean fine dust and pet hair from carpets. automatic floor cleaning machine carpet recognition is a great feature, since it boosts the power of vacuuming to take on dirt that is embedded. It's also user-friendly and has a handy charging dock that automatically empties the dust bin once it's full, which is a great benefit for flat dwellers.

Cleaning apps

The majority of robot vacuums, mops, and sweepers have an application that allows you to alter the cleaning routines. You can also choose rooms to be cleaned, plan cleaning sessions and adjust settings like suction, scrub strength and water levels. Some robots also have intelligent dirt detection, which utilizes past cleaning data and map data to identify areas that are dirty and optimize cleaning mode.

You can also use an app to create virtual barriers and no go zones to shield your robot from dangerous objects, like cords and pet water bowls. Some models come with laser navigation sensors that allow you to create virtual barriers, while others have small physical barriers and boundary strips that can be put anywhere you'd like to limit your floor space.

There are still hazards to be aware of, even though the best vacuums robot vacuums can recognize and navigate around obstacles. For instance, the main brush can become stuck in long cords or curtains and stop the machine from running. You can prevent this from happening by clearing the area of all cords and tying up any curtains that are long before operating your robot.

Some robots automatically update their software which controls the algorithm for navigation and obstacle avoidance. This improves performance and reduces the wear and tear on the robot's internal parts. It is a good idea to check regularly the manufacturer's website or your robot's app for updates to the firmware.

If you own a large home, you should consider models that offer multiple cleaning modes. The iRobot Roomba 11S Max can mop and vacuum on hard and carpeted floors using different suction settings. It can also automatically switch to the highest power setting for carpets and increase its scrubbing power with SmartScrub.

A robot that has a voice assistant is a fantastic option if you want to be hands-free. The iRobot Roomba 980, for example, can be operated using a simple voice command from Alexa, Siri, or Google Assistant. It has a small self-emptying docking station as well as powerful cleaning motor that will leave your floors sparkling.
