Path of Exile item upgrader kit Upgrades
Item upgrades are a common and important way to improve the performance of many items in Path of Exile. They can be a great source of additional damage and more AD or even more affixes.
Rare-grade equipment can be superior to the more modernized Common or Magic gear due to their higher requirements.
Armor
Armor upgrades are a type of upgrade that can be applied to weapons and armor items. They boost the performance of the item that they're connected to. Armor upgrades can be found in the world of the game and are available from Blacksmiths on bonfires. Alternatively, they can also be salvaged from items with upgrade components within them by using a specialist or more powerful salvage kit.
The amount of damage a piece of armor or weapon can absorb depends on the level of its upgrades. A piece of armor upgraded to its highest upgrade level will increase the damage it absorbs. It is important to keep in mind that this will increase the weight of the armor, so it must be heavier.
There are a few different kinds of armor upgrades available in the game and each one has distinct effects. Certain upgrades grant armor an additional number of health points, while others make it stronger and lighter. The kind of armor upgrade an item Upgrade can receive is indicated by the name of the upgrade as indicated in the table below.
Some of the upgrades are also magic or a mix of magic and technology, which is shown by an "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Furthermore, some upgrades require charges to use, and are indicated by a "Charges" entry in the table below. The charges associated with these upgrades refresh daily or never expire dependent on the upgrade.
Iron Ore is the cheapest method to upgrade your armor. It can be found by exploring and looting small chests. Titanium is more expensive however it is obtainable through smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, like the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be applied to armor pieces that are of high-level. These upgrades can provide significant boost to stats and are worth the investment, especially for 1-handed weapons.
The player should be aware that upgrading a piece to its maximum upgrade level can boost its defense. However, it can also reduce its agility and its speed. It is not recommended to upgrade armor past +9. The defensive boost gained usually isn't worth the weight and power costs of the upgrades.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades allow players to enhance certain aspects of their weapon. For example an upgrade could increase the damage dealt by shotgun shells or the accuracy of a rifle that snipes. Certain weapons also come with upgrades that enhance their inherent qualities. Frictionless materials (improves stability, minimizes the risk of overheating), and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's speed to cause more damage) are two examples.
Most weapon upgrades require one of three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons and a whetblade. These are obtained through either completing Side Quests, killing a certain amount of bosses or monsters, or from the Weapon Upgrade NPC in Central Flarine.
To upgrade a weapon, equipment set piece, or Whetblade you need to visit the NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee of a specific amount of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the more bars required to complete it. If you have multiple upgrade materials The cost of upgrading will be lower.
In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade weapon and equipment sets has changed a bit. Before you could search for an Upgrade Bench and pay a set number of Bars to upgrade your equipment or weapon to an increased rarity. You could continue doing this until you reach a maximum upgrade level for the equipment or weapon, following which the upgrades would be reset.
You can still do this, however, the process is high on RNG and low on agency. Instead, you're much better off going to stores and buying gear with low upgrade levels but good base scores and stat distributions. These will be able to give you the highest tier perks and blessings.
The majority of players will make the most of upgrades to weapons they use most frequently to help them level up faster. In addition players, they should think about upgrading the weapons favored by their teammates to make them more powerful and effective. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R to increase its utility when accompanied by biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels are used in the armor's sockets and weapons, enhancing a stat and providing secondary effects. Jewelry crafting is a method for making them, where you combine gemstones with specific reagents on a jewelry table. The higher the level of the gem has, the more powerful its secondary effect. These reagents can be found around the world through Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and occasionally by salvaging Legendary gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Prisms.
The quality of a diamond can be improved at the Jeweler in stages that range from Crude to Royal. The boosts to stats will differ depending on the level the jewel is in when it is inserted into jewelry, weapons, or other gear.
The Jeweler is able to create all kinds of gems, apart from the rare and legendary ones, which you must be at an appropriate level to obtain. Jewels can be replaced with another jewel without damaging the original. You can only replace the jewel once in an item upgrader of equipment.
Utilizing more jewels in the movement can make it feel more comfortable and is usually done to enhance the aesthetics of the movement. In addition to enhancing performance, the jewels create an area that is stronger than metal, which means that repeated friction from pivots doesn't cause damage as easily.
A Glyphmaster can offer glyphs to improve the appearance of your weapons and shields. These glyphs give a slight boost and can be freely exchanged, however they are not guaranteed to show up as loot. Glyphs are like jewelry and can be upgraded by the Jeweler to exchange gold and Scattered Crystals. Glyphs can also be taken out and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as traits and aegis, aren't swappable and are only recoverable by using an Upgrade Extractor or salvaging them using Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage Tool.
Trinkets
Trinkets are pieces of equipment that provide a wide range of small but useful benefits to your hero. They can be obtained in the areas of starting as loot, personal story rewards, from vendors, and by performing road interactions. They can be purchased from the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.
The first trinket a player unlocks will be the cloak, which grants an unimportant but beneficial boost in speed of movement and the ability to escape. Then, they can get amulets, rings, and necklaces in the same way to how a player can acquire weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment has one upgrade slot that can accept either a universal upgrade or a jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades offer fewer benefits and can be used in any type of equipment however, jewelry cannot be replaced or upgraded and is only compatible with specific types of trinkets.
These trinkets can provide additional bonuses and abilities that are active even when the hero isn't engaged in combat. This enables the hero to perform better when they are not active and also helps to compensate for the absence of a solid team or any slots from the talent tree which would normally be filled with the hero's best statistics.
A good general rule of thumb for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you will not replace soon, followed by any items with desirable stats but less important than the iLevel of the item upgrader mod being upgraded. This is especially true when you want to upgrade multiple stats on an item upgrader kit. It's better to upgrade one important stat rather than two suboptimal ones.
At the beginning of the game players in the jungle are likely to upgrade their yellow trinket to a red, while top and mid players typically choose a green or pink ward (depending on the matchup). These choices can affect the hero's ability to manage the map.
Apart from the items listed above, players may also find a number of other trinkets in the game in the form of awards and trophies. These can be earned by completing certain milestones within the story, for instance completing a chapter's main quest or killing a certain boss. These achievements can be seen by selecting the appropriate achievement from the reward tab of the hero menu.
