What is an Item Upgrader in Pokemon Go?

The item upgrader adds an additional widget to the top of both the Angel and Cash Upgrade Windows. This Manager costs 33 billion Angel Investors, and has no gameplay benefit other than making it easier to purchase upgrades.

Boosts

Some boosts are beneficial in certain builds (such Whistan's shield, for FB sorcs) while others can bring an enormous amount of value to specific collectors.

Some items come with built-in boos which is less effective when upgraded. For instance the Goldwrap provides extra potion slots. These are usually upgraded to increase the value of an item that is perfect or close to being perfect.

Costs

Upgrades have some associated costs. The first is the upgrade itself. The cost is based on the new level of the item and the amount of perks it receives and is often expensive. Upgrades to higher levels (such as Explorer to Champion or Veteran to Heroic) can be expensive.

The other is the cost of the materials required for an upgrade. The items used are usually either Power Dices (dropped by monsters 21+) or Minerals and Erons (obtainable through completing specific Mists of Pandaria or Warlords of Draenor quests). These items can be found in the inventory of an Upgrade Vendor.

It takes time to upgrade an item. It can take 8 hours depending on the size of the upgrade. The base stats of the upgraded item are calculated based on the new ilvl and other properties. This calculation determines the updated Armor Class bonus, damage dice, as well as other important statistics. In some instances the upgrade will provide additional advantages that can be picked from a list of available benefits.

In rare instances, the upgrade will replace only the highest-costing perks. You can also add other materials to the upgrade to increase the chances of success. The materials are displayed in a window above the + button. There are however limitations to this, and the maximum amount of material that can be added is displayed right above the + button in the user interface.

A Blacksmith Blessing or an upgraded version thereof can be used to increase the odds of a successful upgrade. This Best item upgrade is useful in the event that you have an Best item Upgrader of gear that has reached the maximum level for its tier, or is close to it. It will allow you to upgrade that piece of equipment to the next level without risking it breaking.

If an upgrade fails it will be returned to its original condition. This is usually an error, but it can also be a downgrade. It is a good idea to save an upgrade for when you're near the maximum level of an item, and to use it as a last resort.

Kafra has a number of items that can be utilized to increase the chances of an upgrade being successful.
