EV Star
GreenPower Motor Company manufactures a complete range of medium- and heavy-duty electric vehicles, including high-floor and lower-floor models. Their flagship vehicle is the EV Star Cab & Chassis platform, which can accommodate a variety of bodies and upfits for a variety of applications. The platform's clean sheet design approach allows for the optimal placement of battery packs and lower center of gravity, which results in better payload-to-range ratios.
The EV Star REEFERX is designed to meet the needs of mid-to-last mile refrigerated delivery as well as catering applications. The refrigerated truck's class 4 design's one wall structure in the interior and higher insulation compared to traditional trucks enable seamless sanitation, better temperature control, and a longer life. The EV Star REEFERX offers superior capacity for cargo and a world-class payload to range ratio for zero-emission passenger and cargo transportation.
GreenPower has partnered with Perrone Robotics in order to equip the EV Star with TONY (To navigate you) autonomous vehicle systems, Green Scooter which will allow fleets to transition to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star will also be capable of wireless charging of 75 kW.
We were capable of testing the EV9 on a local highway for several hours. We found it easy to drive and comfortable to drive for long distances. The EV9 is able to suppress road noise and wind while driving on the highway. It is smooth on bumps and ruts. The acceleration is surprisingly quick and the vehicle has adjustable regenerative braking that allows "one pedal driving" by lifting the accelerator.
The EV9 offers a great range and can be recharged in three hours or less at home, or by using any commercial charger. Drivers can choose between two operating modes: eco mode and sports mode. Eco mode prioritizes the mobility power scooters and cruise control, as well as handling while sport mode maximizes speed. Both modes are fun to drive and offer a unique experience for those who haven't experienced driving an electric vehicle before.
GreenPower offers several other eVehicles that include a multi-purpose all-electric minibus called the EV Star. The EV Star is ADA compliant and can be utilized as an executive shuttle, Green Scooters micro-transit, transit vanpool, bus or a paratransit vehicle.
GreenPower is already producing around 10 EV Star buses a month for the Jacksonville Transit Authority, which is attempting to replace their fleet of diesel vehicles with 100 electric vehicles. greenpower electric scooters will increase production to meet the needs of the Biden Administration, which is looking to electrify all school buses in America. Their EV Star buses are the first of their kind to be Altoona tested and FMVSS-certified, Buy America compliant, and ADA conforming. This means they'll be eligible for federal assistance in transit. Stay tuned when we follow the AV Star on its demonstration tour later in the year. We will provide more information on this innovative EV.
