What is an Item Upgrader in Pokemon Go?

Costs
Upgrades are accompanied by some associated costs. The first is the cost to perform the upgrade. This cost can be expensive and is dependent on the new ilvl of the item and the number of perks it receives. Upgrades to higher levels (such as Explorer to Champion or Veteran to Heroic) can be costly.
The other is the cost of the materials needed for an upgrade. The items used for upgrades are usually either Power Dices (dropped by monsters 21+) or Minerals and Erons (obtainable by completing certain Mists of Pandaria or Warlords of Draenor quests). The quantity of these items required can be seen in the inventory of an upgrade vendor.
Upgrading an item is complicated and takes time. Based on the magnitude of the upgrade, it could take up to 8 hours. The upgraded item's base stats are calculated by using the new ilvl of the item, perks, and other properties. This calculation determines new Armor Class bonuses, damage dice, and other important statistics. In some instances upgrades can provide additional benefits. These perks are available in a list.
In rare cases the upgrade will only replace the most expensive bonuses. Success Rate
Upgrades to items are based on the chance of success, and as with any random system, there is a chance that the upgrade won't succeed. There are a number of ways to increase your chances of success. This includes the use of an Upgrade Pity or adding extra materials to your upgrade.
An Upgrade Pity is an item upgrader mod you can purchase from the smithing NPC in Lost Ark. It increases the chances of the upgrade being successful by some percentage. This is similar to the luck bonus certain items offer, but is more solid. It can be added to any weapons or armor and can be used three times.
You can also add other materials to the upgrade to increase the chance of success. These materials are displayed in a separate window above the + button. There are however limitations to this, and the highest amount of material that can be added is displayed right above the + button in the user interface.
Another way to increase the chances of a successful upgrade is by using an item known as the Blacksmith Blessing or an upgraded version of it. This item is helpful in the event that you have an item or weapon gear that has reached the highest level for its tier or is close to it. It will allow you to upgrade that piece of gear to the next level without worrying about breaking.
If an upgrade is unsuccessful it will be restored to its original state. This is typically a break, but it can also be a downgrade. Save an upgrade until you are nearing the highest level for an item upgrading.
Kafra has a range of items that can be used to increase the chances of an upgrade being successful. For example upgrading an equipment using HD Oridecon or HD Elunium multiple times will give you an increased chance of success. The rate of success will be enhanced if you boost the chance of getting a Double Mint by Shoe-Minting five times.
Failure Rate
The item upgrader allows players to add a second slot on their equipment. The slots can be used to upgrade an item or apply an enhancement.
