WoW Upgrades - The item level upgrade Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a boost to certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. A random additional substat is also boosted alongside every upgrade.
The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless it has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the need to roll to get a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader enables players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any type of weapon or armor. However, the item that is used to upgrade will be consumed forever and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to enchantments.
You can upgrade items your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks.
The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current level of the gear being upgraded, but will always be cheaper than purchasing new gear from other sources. For instance upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points purchasing a similar piece from another player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are useful items that are used to upgrade weapons and tools, armor and other items. They can be purchased through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners for a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor using an The button will display the item's next level of upgrade, when there are enough materials.
The cost of upgrading varies based on the slot for the item and the current level of the item. For instance weapons cost more than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain amount, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.
Many locations offer item upgrade upgraders which include the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and a possibility of obtaining an entirely new recipe. The upgrade discount increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players finish certain achievements or quests.
Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no upgrader for items available in the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are available only through a variety means. This is both a benefit and an issue.
In Season 3 the upgrade system was tweaked a bit, with some new features added. Once an upgrade has been completed to a certain level of item upgrades for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same item level, will cost less. This is true even if those items are from another set of equipment.
The discount is available to all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievements.
Crests
When it comes to upgrading gear in WoW, players have a few choices. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specialized and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.
The first thing to be aware of is that crests are only able to be used to purchase gear of a specific rank, and each rank has its own requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the most complex may require as many as 20 crests depending on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through completing tasks at the appropriate level. This could be done by doing outdoor activities or taking on dungeons and raids of any difficulty to earn equipment of lower tier or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons that have a high difficulty for endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an item upgrader like Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and routes.
The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, however it will bring some modifications to the upgrade process. Once a piece of gear reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it will no longer require Flightstones. This change is designed to allow players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.
It's also important to use crests in a wise manner, as they only have one use. For instance, it's a good idea utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests with the best gear you have available and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan to make. This is particularly applicable to items like trinkets and rings that take up multiple slots. The account-wide discount is only applicable when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
