The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention, and leaves your floors spotless. Its low cost and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

Be sure to regularly examine the brushes of your robot vacuum that mops for hair tangled and large particles, and wash them when needed. Some models can also automatically empty their dust bin on board into a larger one at the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have test. They are equipped with motors that are top of the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. And, like other top iRobot models (including the top choice) they utilize smart mapping technology to create detailed floor plans and avoid common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots that vacuum and mop also have Carpet Boost, a feature which boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on bare floors They are also adept in removing dog hair. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's therefore prone to become stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of an area.

It's still a good deal particularly if your home or office has lots of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save money. It's also extremely quiet and works while you are at work or at school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't hold on very well and can't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle, however. If you're in need of it mop, the mopping pad can be swapped for one that is wet in just a few minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and efficient in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also has a powerful suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. You can change the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones with the well-designed app. Its battery life is average compared to other models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to remove and extend its mop. This can help avoid cross contamination. Its flex arm is also great for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire home, and it did so with the battery at 66 percent left. It also did an excellent job cleaning a variety of floors and rooms that had different flooring types, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was great and it stayed clear of fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically empties into its base, and it supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums it, something hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum cleaner best vacuum/mop combinations.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With a sleek circular design that appears more like a normal Roomba rather than the boxes this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most appealing looking in our tests. The latest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum to score 100% in our evaluations, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It comes with an intuitive mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's loud that could be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you try to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive, although it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally powerful and look better. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful however, it's going to cost you more and make more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a variety of sophisticated features that will let you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take care of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot vacuum cleaner employs the combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and identify obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time, though this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.

Its vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also has a feature called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas in the home based on how dirty those areas tend to be.

For bigger homes it's recommended to choose one with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean one particular area of your home by using the app or via voice commands. A stair mode can be useful if you own a large furniture. Additionally the recharge and resume function that lets your robot automatic vacuum cleaner continue where it left off is ideal for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more intelligent than the price suggests. It is a great job vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've examined. It's also self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app as well as a self-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate the mapping process which collects information about your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, set up the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritize your most filthy rooms for better performance. The app offers a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and underneath furniture better. It is equipped with an impressive 8000 Pascal suction and clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also set up a spot clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute little eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, however it is more likely to be caught in low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also has an app that is less intuitive, and a smaller base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
