A small bedside cot; visit this site, That Attaches to Your Adult Bed
If you're looking to keep your baby as close as you can at night, without having to get out of the bed, a crib that is placed beside your bed is the best bedside cots option. The fabric is breathable, which means you can easily see baby and they're easy to lower for those sleepy 3am feeds.
Some also double up as a moses basket too.
What is a bedside crib?
A bedside crib, also referred to as a bassinet or co-sleeper, is a small baby cot attached to your adult bed. This allows your baby bedside sleeper to sleep with you in peace. This is a safe form of co-sleeping that doesn't increase your risk of SIDS like bedsharing. It can also help you bond with the newborn baby.
The cots usually have a side that is able to be lowered, so you can easily reach your infant throughout the night for feeding and comforting. This is especially helpful for mothers recovering from a c-section. Some are also foldable or portable, so you can take them on your travels and use them as a temporary sleep solution for newborns who aren't yet ready to move into a cot that is full size.
Look for a crib with an air-conditioned mattress, as well as an extra-safe cover that will protect your baby from staining. It is also advisable to pick up some baby-safe add-ons such as a blanket, a teether and a cuddly toy.
If you're looking for a longer-term option, some cribs come with conversion kits that allow you to turn them into a cot, or a toddler bed when the time comes. This is great for extending their life and making the transition easier. Some come with a removable section at the top that can be turned into a bassinet. Other models can be used in conjunction with an adult bed that is standard or a high-rise one. This is an excellent choice for families who intend to travel frequently or change between bedrooms at night. You should also think about the size of your bedroom to ensure that you can squeeze the crib comfortably. A lot of cribs have an incline which can be used to create an incline for babies with reflux.
The Joie Roomie Glide
Famous for their high-end baby products for babies, the English brand Joie has stepped into the world of cribs for bedside use with the Roomie Glide. It is designed to help parents bond with their infants while they sleep together, without sharing a bed. This co-sleeper has features that help make bonding between parents easy, safe and enjoyable.
One of the most important features is a smooth rocking motion that can be activated with the push of a button. This gentle rhythm will help to soothe your baby without disrupting their natural sleep patterns. This is ideal for toddlers and older babies who are struggling to settle and can aid in digestion problems such as reflux and colic.
The crib can be locked in place once the rocking is completed to stop it from moving. It can also be secured on the side of your bed using clips and straps. This makes it very solid and secure, allowing you to get a good night's rest without worrying about your little one sliding off into the middle of the room. The rounded shape of the cocoon is complemented by softly padding on the sides as well as double mesh windows at both ends. This allows airflow while keeping your baby safe.
The mattress comes with a firm and comfortable and has an easily removable cover. The aluminum frame is lightweight, making the crib extremely lightweight and easy to set up. The four lockable rubber-covered wheels ensure that the crib will not leave marks on your flooring and is easy to move. It is easy to clean with wipeable woven fabrics and is easy to carry in a bag for travel, which makes it ideal for overnight stays away from home.
The TuttiBambini CoZee Air
Designed to be a safe next-to-me crib from birth to six months old, this top model comes with rocking bars as well as castors to allow for ease of movement. The deluxe airflow mattresses provide an ideal sleeping surface while the ventilation panels keep your baby cool. There are 6 different height settings including an incline option that can help with reflux and congestion.
Unlike some bedside cot wooden cribs that can be difficult to clean due to their constant stream of dribble and snot and snot, the Tutti Bambini CoZeeAir comes with a wipe-clean liner and fabric that can be removed to wash in the machine. It also has an upper bar that can be easily adjusted to allow for feeding at night without having to fiddle with zips.
Anna found the CoZee to be a safe and cozy sleeping place for her infant. It was a pleasure to not move like other models so she wasn't woken up at night while trying to soothe her baby during feedings. She also loved that the side lowered down so she didn't have to reach over her partner to carry the baby bedside cot out for feedings at night.
The CoZee is available in oak and charcoal and is a chic addition to the bedroom. It's more of an expensive piece of furniture than many of the other cribs we've tested, which can appear quite utilitarian. It's also relatively lightweight at just 11kg and comes with a carry case so you can take it on vacation or if you're moving your home. You only need to purchase a waterproof sheet and a safety strap to sleep with your partner. There are step-by-step directions and illustrations to guide you through the process as you open the box and making it a single-person job when needed.
The Maxi-Cosi Lora
The Iora is an infant bassinet designed to make parents feel more connected to their baby while they sleep. It adjusts upwards and downwards and slides through three positions to fit next to the bed of the parent or in the corner of the room, so that the baby is always close to the parent's side. The mesh siding lets air circulate through, allowing you to see your baby quickly. And you can store additional pajamas and other items in the large storage basket underneath.
Unlike some other smaller bedside cribs Iora is a standout among other bedside cribs. Iora can be folded flat and comes with a carry-on bag to allow it to be carried anywhere. Our mum testers were able to move it from room to room and believed it was a great size for a bedside cot that was not too big or small. They also liked the large storage basket perfect for storing spare bedding or nappies.
This is an excellent choice for parents who want to sleep in a co-sleeping arrangement but do not wish to share their beds, or whose partners might be prone to mobility issues, such as arthritis or back issues. Our mum testers loved that they could easily access their child while in the Iora and that it came with an option to have a reflux incline which helped to reduce gas.
Our moms also love the fact that it meets NICE guidelines, which are to place the baby in a crib or Moses basket on its own (with no blankets, toys, pillows, etc). They also claim that the mattress is comfortable and firm for baby and is easy to find sheets for. It's not as light as the other cribs that are smaller on our list, so if you prefer something lighter and easier for you to move around, consider a different option.
