Its obstacle avoidance may not be as advanced as other systems like LiDAR or structured light, but it manages to prevent most collisions.
The Combo includes the majority of the same smarts as the j7 Plus with the addition of new onboard acoustic sensors to determine floor type and AI-powered navigation, however it lacks the ability to set suction power manually. It's also smaller than its vacuum-only counterpart and doesn't come with a self-empty dock.
The Combo is one of my favorites for most homes. Its elegant design is also one of the most attractive I've seen in the industry. The matte black finish is more elegant than the glossy or metallic finishes of many competitors. iRobot also adds some elegant touches, like a leather tab for opening the onboard bin and a shelf to hold bags in the dock.
