Path of Exile Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a common and essential way to boost the performance of numerous items in Path of Exile. They can provide extra damage, AD or even affixes.

Sometimes, however, upgraded Common and Magic gear is often surpassed by Rare-grade equipment due to their high requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades can be applied to both weapon and armor items. They improve the stats of the item upgrader kit they're connected to. Upgrades to armor are available in the game's world and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. Alternately, they can be salvaged from items that have upgrade components in them using an expert or greater salvage kit.

The amount of damage that a piece of armor or weapon is able to absorb is dependent on the extent of its upgrades. The absorption of damage by a piece armor will increase when it is upgraded to the highest upgrade level. But, it's important to be aware that this upgrade will increase its weight, which will cause it to be heavier than before.

There are a few different types of armor upgrades that are available in the game and they all have distinct effects. Certain upgrades grant armor a greater amount of health points while others make it more powerful and lighter. The type of armor upgrade that an item can get will be identified by the name of the upgrade as indicated in the table below.

A few upgrades are magical or a combination of magic and technology, which is indicated by an "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Furthermore, some upgrades require a charge to use, and are shown by a "Charges" entry in the table below. The charges for these upgrades refresh daily or never expire, depending on the upgrade.

The cheapest way to upgrade armor is with Iron Ore, which can be obtained by exploring the area and looting minor loot chests. Titanium is more costly, however, it is available in the smelters of Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, such as the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to higher level armor pieces. These upgrades can give players a significant improvements in stats and are well worth the cost.

The player should be aware that upgrading a piece to the maximum upgrade level will increase its defense values. However, it will also reduce its agility and speed. It is not recommended to upgrade armor past +9. The defensive boost gained generally isn't worth the weight and power expenses of the upgrades.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades give players the ability to improve certain aspects of their weapon. For instance an upgrade can improve the damage that is caused by a shotgun's shells or the accuracy of the sniper rifle. Certain weapons also come with upgrades that improve their innate capabilities. Frictionless materials (improves stability, and reduces the possibility of overheating), and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's speed to cause more damage) are two examples.

Most upgrades for weapons require three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons and a whetblade for applying. They can be gained by completing Side Quests or by killing a certain number of bosses and monsters.

The process of upgrading a weapon, equipment Set piece, or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade price that is based on a specific number of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the higher the number of bars you will need to complete the upgrade. The cost of upgrading will be lower if have more than one of the upgrade materials.

In Chapter 2: Season 5, the ways to upgrade your equipment and weapon sets was a bit different. Prior to Chapter 2: Season 5, you could upgrade your weapon and equipment by paying a certain number of Bars. You could do this until you reach a max upgrade level of the equipment or weapon, after which upgrades would reset.

It's possible, but it depends heavily on RNG. You should consider buying equipment that has minimal upgrade levels and high base scores and stat distributions. These will then be able to give you the highest tier benefits and blessings.

Most players will want to prioritize upgrades to the weapons they use most frequently to make sure they are able to level up quicker. In addition to these players, they should think about upgrading the weapons they use with their squadmates to make them more powerful and effective. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R, which will make it more useful when paired with biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels are utilized in the sockets of armor and weapons, enhancing a stat and providing secondary effects. They can be created through a process called jewelry crafting, where you combine a gemstone and various reagents at a jewelry table. The higher the level of the gem, the greater the secondary effect. These reagents can be gotten from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses around the world, or by collecting Legendary Gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.

The Jeweler can enhance the quality of the gem in stages that range from Crude up to Royal. The stat boosts will vary according to the tier that the jewel is in when it is inserted into weapons, jewelry, or other gear.

The Jeweler is able to create the highest levels of gems with the exception of rare and legendary ones which require a certain level to get. Jewels can be substituted with another jewel without destroying the original. You can only replace the gem once within an item upgrader mod of equipment.

It is normal to use more jewelry to enhance the appearance of. Apart from improving performance, the jewels create an area that is stronger than metal, which means that repeated friction with pivots doesn't cause harm as easily.

A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs to enhance the appearance of your weapons and shields. They offer a small benefit and can be swapped freely, but are not guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs are upgradeable, like jewelry, at the Jeweler for gold, and also scattered Crystal. Glyphs are also removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as traits and aegis, cannot be swapped out, and can only be retrieved using an Upgrade Extractor or salvaging them using Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage Tool.

Trinkets

Trinkets are a great way to give your character various small, but valuable advantages. They can be obtained in the starter areas as loot or personal story rewards from vendors, and by performing road interactions. They may also be crafted by jewelers, and found or purchased from the Trading Post.

The first trinkets a player unlocks will be the cloak. It grants a small but useful bonus to speed of movement and the ability to escape. After that, they'll be able to purchase amulets, rings and necklaces in a similar way to how a player acquires weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment has an upgrade slot which can be universal or jewel. Universal upgrades are smaller and can be used on any device. Jewels are not upgradeable or replaced, and can only be used with certain trinkets.

These trinkets also grant additional bonuses and abilities that are active even when the character is not fighting. This allows the hero to be more effective while inactive, and can also help to compensate for the absence of a solid team or any talent tree slots that normally are filled with the hero's ideal stats.

In general trinket upgrades should be a priority BiS (Best in Slot) items that you will not replace in the near future. Next, any items with desirable stats that aren't as significant as the iLevel of the item to be upgraded. This is especially true if an item level upgrade has multiple stats that you'd like to upgrade, as it's usually better to upgrade a single important stat rather than two sub-optimal ones.

At the beginning of the game players who are in the jungle will typically want to upgrade their yellow trinket into a red one, while top and middle players will usually opt for a green or pink ward (depending on the matchup). These choices will have a significant impact on the hero's ability to control his map.

Aside from the items mentioned above, players may also discover a variety of other trinkets in the game in the form of trophies and awards. These can be obtained through completing certain milestones within the story. For example, completing a chapter’s main quest or beating a boss. They can be viewed by selecting the appropriate achievement in the reward tab of the hero menu.
