top rated Robot vacuum Rated Robot Vacuums

A best robot vacuum vacuum is able to keep floors clean enough to reduce the frequency at which you need to manually vacuum. Look for one that offers an easy navigation, can clean corners and stairs, and has a large dust bin that needs emptying only once in a while.

There are models that clean and charge themselves, a feature that may be important for people with pets or children. Many of the top performers in our tests have good obstacle avoidance.

1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling the i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ comes with self-emptying capabilities. This makes the i3+ an excellent choice for people who want a hands-off, fully automated cleaning experience but don't mind manually emptying their robot's dustbin when it fills up.

Both robots are good at removing surface dirt on floors and carpets and can navigate around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates intelligent maps of your home, which help the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a way that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ does not feature obstacle avoidance features like the i7+ or other top-rated robots we have tested. It may get stuck on power cords or socks, and may have trouble navigating between different surfaces, like rug and hardwood.

iRobot recommends you clear out areas in which the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, including getting rid of any clutter or toys it may encounter. It's also recommended to keep the bin and filter clear so they aren't clogged by dirt. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is not fully charged, it returns to the docking station and emptys the dirt into the docking station’s external dustbin. It then continues cleaning from where it left off. The battery's lifespan is around an hour and a half of constant use. It takes three hours to charge.

2. Roomba from iRobot

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model of the flagship line from iRobot, and it has the most up-to-date features. It has self-charging and self-navigating. However, the most significant feature is its self-emptying bin. This will eliminate the need for regular maintenance.

The Roomba i7+ is able to remember up to 10 floor plans and their names thanks to Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that allows it to create maps of rooms so that it can clean them more efficiently. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and control your robot with voice or through the app.

In our tests the i7+ performed quicker and more maneuverable than our second-placed model, the eufy RoboVac G30, and it removed large chunks of pet hair from all surface kinds including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy, though the dust bin is self-emptying, which eliminates a major source of maintenance and cuts down on recurring costs.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilized these services to instruct the robot on how to begin or stop cleaning sessions as well as move around the room, and vacuum a particular area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. After connecting, we were able to give the i7+ voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and evaluating the performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world filled with vacuums that are cordless and feel like minivans or buses, this tiny Dyson model feels like an automobile. It has the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum in many households, but it also fits nicely on a coffee table or on a bookshelf where you can move it around like a magic wand.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery that produces fade-free power for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filter system traps allergens, then lets cleaner air into your home. The specialized head uses rigid nylon bristles that penetrate deep into carpets and pick up large dust or crumbs. It has three suction modes to suit the task at hand. It quickly converts from floor vac to handheld automatic vacuum cleaner, and then back to floor.

This model has a dock which charges the Dyson to 100% in 3.5 hours. It also gives an easy access to two attachments and a wand. This is a huge improvement over earlier Dysons models, which require a lengthy charge and are a pain to store.

The biggest issue with the V10 is its short run time. Its claims on the market that it has up to 60 minutes of running time are misleading, as CR's testing shows. This is an average, not an exceptional, time to run a battery-powered cordless vac. It's enough time to vacuum a typical-sized home however, it's not enough time to get into every corner. (A second run usually works). This doesn't mean that this model doesn't have its advantages: It's lighter and mobile than the older cordless Dysons, and its vacuuming efficiency is superior on carpets with a low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

One of the most well-known robot vacuums, the 694 is an entry-level model that's a good option for those who don't wish to spend too much money on a robot. It was able to remove all kinds of debris and sizes during our tests, and frequently went over the same area several times for a thorough clean. Its flat front makes it possible to reach the corners and the edges of walls.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home, but it isn't equipped with the mapping capabilities of more advanced models like our top selections, the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. It may get stuck on phone cords or furniture and will often run out of power before returning to its base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694 because it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning, comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, has a lower cost of recurring costs, has more advanced automation capabilities and is better able to move its own. It also has a bigger dustbin and is charged faster.

The elegant RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 in most purposes, because it has a longer battery life, has the ability to alter the suction power mode by hand, comes with physical boundary strips, and can be operated by your phone's voice assistant. It is also more robust, has a more powerful motor, and is more effective on floors with low pile and bare.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a well-known brand in home electronics. It's not surprising, then, that they are also among the top manufacturers of robot vacuums and mop. Jet Bot AI+ has the most advanced onboard technology for navigation and obstacle avoidance.

The app offers a wide range of customization options for your robotic cleaner. These include mopping levels, virtual barriers and behavior adjustments, docking frequency settings and more. The app is easy to use and understand similar to other Samsung devices.

In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and it cleaned up 86 percent of dog hair (on carpet). However, it wasn't particularly well at avoiding higher-up objects like cords or socks, which was disappointing. It's also more expensive than other models we've tested and this could be a problem for some buyers.

The smart vacuum comes with an onboard camera that you can access via the app. You can also set up a live stream from the robot vacuum cleaner's cleaning station. This feature allows you to keep track of your pets or kids when you're away from home. The filter and the dustbin can be cleaned for the quick and easy cleaning. The Jet Bot AI+ also comes with a clean and tidy station that's self-emptying, which helps keep the robot's dustbin clean and maximizes suction power for each cleaning run.

6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum

Contrary to other robotic vacuums that are made for hard floors and carpets, Black and Decker robots are designed specifically for hard floors. They come with a wide cleaning path and a larger dustbin that holds twice as much debris than the competition to keep the cleaning area free of debris for the longest period of time. They also have two side sweepers to clean around corners and edges. The POWERSERIES model includes AutoSense, which automatically adjusts the power level depending on whether it's collecting surface dirt or embedded dirt. The vacuum also comes with an app that allows users to see a virtual map, control functions, and set schedules. You can also check the status of the vacuum and connect it to the dock for charging with the touch of a single button. The app lets you customize the LED lights on the top of the vacuum so that you can discern where it is focusing or if it's stuck.

The app allows you to manually steer the robot when needed. My living room rug for instance has a dark-colored border which could cause a problem for other robots. The HRV 425BL, however, continued to move across the border without registering the cliff. The ability to program a daily cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving benefit.
