WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases item level by +3. Each upgrade also increases a random substat.
The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless it is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect model.
Recycle Points
The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item level Upgrade that is used for the upgrade will remain in use for a long time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enhancements.
You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear current it is recommended you visit the upgrader every few weeks.
Upgrades can cost more based on the item level, but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new gear. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used for weapon, armor, tool and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for various currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be used on any weapon or tool with the help of button, which will display an item's preview at its next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.
upgrade item costs vary depending on the slot for the item and the current level of the item. For instance, weapons will cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.
Item upgraders can be found in a variety of locations on the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and a possibility of getting a new recipe. The upgrade discount increases with the number of items being upgraded. It is also possible to be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades must be acquired through a variety of means which is both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.
In Season 3, a number of new features were added to the upgrade system. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a certain item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading further items to that level will cost less, even in the event that they are part of an entirely different set of gear.
The discount is applicable to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players reach certain milestones in their achievement.
Crests
Players have several options when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an item upgrader mod that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that crests can only be used on gear of a specific rank, and that each rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and simplest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade requires up to 20 crests, depending on the type or equipment being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through completing content of the appropriate level, which involves walking around and performing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons of all difficulty for items of higher tier, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons to obtain endgame gear. These crests can be exchanged with an item upgrader like Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and routes.
The new currency system isn't difficult to use, however it will bring some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, when an item reaches the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is intended to allow players to upgrade their gear up to the highest level possible for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also crucial to choose crests with care, since they are only used for one purpose. It is best to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the Best item upgrade gear you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly true for items such as trinkets and rings that fill multiple slots. The discount on the account will only apply when all slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
