What is an Item Upgrader in Pokemon Go?
A transparent device that allows certain Pokemon species evolve. It was produced by Silph Co.

Certain items come with a built-in boos, which is less beneficial when upgraded. For instance the Goldwrap has an extra potion slot. These are often upp'd to add value to the perfect or nearly perfect item.
Costs
There are a few costs associated with item upgrades. The first is the cost for the upgrade. The cost for this upgrade items can be costly and is dependent on the new ilvl of the item and the number perks it gains. It can also be expensive to upgrade an item to a better tier (such as Explorer > Champion or Veteran > Heroic).
The second is the cost of the items required to upgrade. These items are usually Power Dices (dropped from monsters 21+), Minerals and Erons or a specific Mists of Pandaria or Warlords of Draenor Quests. These items can be found in the inventory of an upgrade vendor.
It takes time to upgrade an item. Depending on the size of the upgrade, it could take anywhere from 8 to 12 hours. The upgraded item's base stats are calculated based on the item's new ilvl bonus, perks, as well as other properties. This calculation determines the new Armor Class bonuses, damage dice, and other important stats. In some cases the upgrade will provide additional perks that can be selected from a list of available perks.
In rare cases the upgrade will only replace the highest-costing bonuses. You can also add other materials to the upgrade to increase its chances of success. These are displayed in a separate window, above the + button. There are however limitations to this, and the largest amount of material that can be added is shown directly above the + button in the user interface.
A Blacksmith Blessing or an upgraded version, can be used to increase the chances of an upgrade being successful. This item is beneficial when you own an item or weapon equipment that is at the highest level for its tier, or is close to it. This item will allow you upgrade the equipment to the next tier without risking its breaking.
If an upgrade is unsuccessful it will be restored to its previous state. This is usually a break, but it could also be an upgrade. You should save an upgrade until you're close to the highest level for an Best item upgrader.
There are many items in the Kafra shop that can be used to boost the chances of a successful upgrade. For example, upgrading a piece of equipment with HD Oridecon or HD Elunium multiple times will provide you with more chance of success. Also, increasing the chances to receive a Double Mint from Shoe-Minting a maximum of five times will increase the chance of success.
Failure Rate
