WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a an increase in specific statistics. Each upgrade boosts the level of the item upgrade by +3. A random substat is also added to every upgrade.
The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item level upgrade (https://Telegra.ph) has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are not as valuable for the latter due to the requirement to roll the perfect version.
Recycle Points
The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. However, the item used for the upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in all major cities and is accessible anytime to upgrade your gear. To keep your gear up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every several weeks.
Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item, however they'll always be less expensive than purchasing new gear. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points purchasing a similar piece from a different player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapons, armor, tools, and accessory upgrades. They are purchased by players through NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any tool, weapon, or armor. button, which displays a preview of the item when it is upgraded if the player has sufficient materials.
Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot for the item and the current item upgrade level. For example weapons cost more than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or crests that are used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currency types.
Item upgraders can be found in a variety of locations including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount as well as a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases depending on the amount of items being upgraded. It is also possible to be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.
Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no item upgrader available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are only accessible through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit as well as an issue.
In Season 3 the upgrade system was tweaked a bit, with some new features added. Once the player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. This is true even if the items come from an entirely different set of equipment.
The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is available across all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is cut too, but it is only available once certain milestones are reached.
Crests
Players have a number of choices when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an important element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that the crests can only be purchased for equipment that is with a certain rank. Each rank comes with an upgrade path that is different. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complicated requires as many as 20 crests, based on the kind of gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, which involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, dungeons or raids of all difficulty for items of higher tier or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons to obtain endgame gear. These crests can then be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.
Using these new currencies isn't too complicated however, the system will introduce a few modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, when a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is designed to allow players to upgrade their equipment up to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.
Another important modification is that crests have one purpose, so it's important to make use of them in a responsible manner. It is best to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the highest-quality gear you can locate, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly applicable to trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character, that will be able to benefit from the account-wide discount when all slots are full of high-quality gear.
