WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item upgrade by 3. Each upgrade also increases an unspecified substat.
Upgraded gear generally sees more value in trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or a very high stat variation (like Eth titan weapons). Upgrades are less important for those with higher variance due to the need to roll the perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item level upgrade (www.diggerslist.com) upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in all major cities and is accessible at any time to upgrade your equipment. To keep your gear up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each few weeks.
The cost of upgrading will be based on the current item upgrader mod level of the item upgrades being upgraded, but will always be cheaper than purchasing new gear from other sources. For example, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item from another player will costs 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items which can be used to level up weapons and tools, armor and other items. Players can purchase them from item upgraders NPCs for various currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor with an The button will display a preview of an item's next upgrade level in the event that there are enough materials.
The cost of upgrading varies based on the slot of the item and the current level of the item. For instance weapons cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with some upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of Flightstones or the crests used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.
Upgraders for items are available in a variety of locations including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrading increases when more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players finish certain achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead, the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades are acquired via various methods, which is both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.
In Season 3, several new features have been added to the upgrade system. Once the player has upgraded to a certain item level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level, will cost less. This applies even if those items come from an entirely different set of gear.
The discount applies to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievements.
Crests
When upgrading gear in WoW players have a few choices. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an important element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
First, you should know that Crests are only available to gear with a certain rank. Each rank comes with distinct upgrade paths. The simplest and easiest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, contingent on the kind of gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by working through tasks at the appropriate level. This could be by engaging in outdoor activities or completing dungeons and raids in any difficulty to earn equipment of lower tier or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons with a heroic difficulty to obtain endgame gear. These crests can be exchanged with an item upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and paths.
The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, however it will bring some changes to the upgrade process. For example, once an item upgrader mod reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change lets players upgrade their gear to the highest possible level on all of their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
Another important change is that crests have one usage therefore it's essential to use them properly. For instance, it's a good idea to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the best equipment available and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning to make. This is particularly relevant for trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character, that will be able to avail the account-wide discount when all slots are full of high-quality equipment.
