World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
Item upgrading allows players to boost the gear score of an Best item upgrade up to 700 and also add an additional perk. Items can be upgraded if they're in your inventory and you take them to the kiln.
Certain items can be upp'd to benefit from their unique stats (like perfect made breakpoint armour that can be rolled to use in melee PvP) and others, like weapons, don't change much post upgrade and thus aren't worth upgrading.
Weapons
Upgrades to weapons can boost their numerical stats, including attack damage, crit probability and PvE/PvP damage. Weapons also come with a flat bonus that increases the damage they deal per second. Additionally some weapons come with an added bonus that is activated when three or more of the same weapon are equipped on a unit. This bonus may be greater than the damage a weapon upgrade alone can do.
A weapon's upgrade costs depend on the quality of the weapon and its current level. For example, a +2 weapon will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while a +3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade items the weapon will continue to increase until it requires an upgrade to a higher level of Smithing Stones, at which point it will reset to one.
Upgrades to weapons also change the stats of the base. This is generally a positive factor, but it could also have negative effects. For items that only see use in a particular build (Whistant's shield for FB Sorcs, for example) upgrading them can make them unusable unless you happen to have an extremely fortunate roll.
Armor items can also be upgraded to boost their stats. For instance, if you have chests or helms this will increase the defense of its base, while gloves and belts will enhance their required strength and dexterity. Armor also offers the option of rerolling its Enhanced Defense percentage, which means that it can sometimes reroll to a lower value.
The upgrade template for a weapon shows the new stats it will gain when upgraded and their relative values. This means that a weapon will gain an attack damage of 3% if it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. However, the 3% doesn't mean that it will be hit for 3 fewer times because it's an absolute number.
A weapon can also be rerolled using the green button, which is accompanied by circling arrows in the Best item upgrader menu. This will reroll the Best item upgrader and alter its stats but it won't reset the weapon's level or connect to the status of your account.
Armor
Making a few improvements to your armor can make huge differences in your ability to survive. Certain sets can offer MASSIVE increases in poison, curse, fire and magic resistance, which can make it easier to navigate through tough terrain. The more defense your character has, the more value you can get out of each point of health you possess therefore it is important to improve your armor as much as you can.
To improve your armor, head to any of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four of them and each one requires you to complete a special side quest involving the Stable Trotters musical troupe. After you've completed your main quest, and the corresponding fountains, you'll have the option of talking to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the armor upgrade menu.
Each piece of armor can be upgraded to three levels, and the amount of materials and Rupees required for each will vary. In general, you'll be looking at anything from three to ten Red Chuchu jellies and 10 Rupees for the initial upgrade, and anywhere between five Rubies and ten Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns for each subsequent one. For example the Champion Leathers could be upgraded to +5 defense, allowing you to keep pace with a good-sized group of enemies in the majority of cold environments and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded all the way to +20 defense, granting the protection needed to survive a full on raid with a few friends.
You can't upgrade your armor like weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior then you should concentrate on upgrading your armor to increase physical power or the power of spells. It's also worthwhile to save your armor upgrades to use for armor you'll be wearing at the end of the game, such as the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield or the helmet you wear for the final boss battle as well as the Monter Parts merchant's mask.
You can also get some perks for your armor by presenting the jeweler at Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. It is generally recommended to save these upgrades to the weapon you'll use to beat the game. For instance, the Longsword or Battleaxe. However, it's beneficial to have a few upgrades to the armor on your chest and helmets to let you escape some monsters.
Potions
Potions are bottled substances that, when consumed give the player the illusion of status for a few minutes. There are five types of potions that have different effects and durations. Certain potions can be upgraded, enhancing the effectiveness of their effects. You can also enhance the effects of certain potions by adding glowstone dust and redstone.
Upgrades to your potion require a specific amount XP. This can be obtained by making them on a crafting table or by storing them in the Alchemist chest. The upgrade price varies depending on the type of potion used and the item's rarity as well as Mark Level.
To upgrade a potions you need to right-click it in your inventory. Then select "Upgrade" from the menu. This will open a GUI where you can choose the potions you wish to upgrade and the amount of XP they'll give you when upgraded. The upgrade of potions can be completed in batches of up to five at a time and the XP that they generate will be added to your current XP level.
When a poton is upgraded, it will not degrade unless you take it out again or break the bottle within which it is stored. You can also change the name of the potion by clicking it in your inventory.
There were a few changes to potion mechanics in version 1.7.2. For example splash potions now have a duration of 0:08 (this is not the same as the 22.5 seconds that are displayed on the hover display of the item). The potion table is now crafted from four Wood Planks, and two Glass. This allows it to be utilized by players playing Survival and Bedrock. Bedrock Edition potions are not compatible with cauldrons like Java Edition. Similarly, using a potion in a cauldron that is full drains the potion and replenishes the bottle.
There are also simmering potions made using dragon breath and splash potions. Redstone can also be added to potions that are lingering to increase their effects. The table of potion ingredients is now arranged more like the Java Edition, and new potions were added, such as the potion of leaping, the decomposition potion, as well as turtle master potions.
Trinkets
A trinket can be described as a small and inexpensive ornament or piece of jewelry. It could be a reference to a piece of art or a decoration that serves a purpose but is not particularly significant like a thimble. In some cultures, a trinket is used to signify affection or friendship, particularly between family members.
In addition to weapons, armor and potions, players are able to upgrade their trinkets. Upgrades can be obtained by paying the appropriate currency to an upgrade vendor. As with other upgrades to items, trinkets can be swapped out at will without losing their stats.
Upgrade vendors can be found at the capitals of every zone, and sometimes in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are purchased using tokens, gold or fragments of a rare trinket.
Upgrades are a cost-effective alternative to buying a new trinket. A player can upgrade their trinket for as little 12 tokens. The new trinket will come with the same base ilvl of the previous one, and will have an additional upgrade bonus of 1.
Once the old Trinkets have become no longer useful, they can be upgraded. This allows a player to increase their power and value with time. They can be traded among players which makes them a good alternative to gold.
In general, players should upgrade their highest priority items first. This means that the most-important slot items for each class are upgraded first, followed by their secondary gear and finally other equipment that they will not replace in the near future (such as rings or cloaks). Players should also consider their class's preferred stats when deciding the items to upgrade. For instance, if Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for tanks, they should prioritize upgrading their chest, helm shoulders, belt, and chest.
When they are no longer useful trinkets can be upgraded to a greater level. The upgraded trinket will give you an additional 1percent bonus. Re-upgrading will destroy the trinket unless it is salvaged with the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or a salvage tool. Upgrades to trinkets can be more expensive than other upgrades, but still cheaper than buying an entirely new trinket.
