WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases item level by 3. A random extra substat is also boosted alongside every upgrade.
Upgraded gear generally sees greater value for trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the requirement to roll to get a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader mod upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create the enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in every major city, and is accessible at any time to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader once every few weeks, to keep your equipment up to date.
Upgrades will cost more depending on the level of the item but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new gear. For example, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item from a different player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are useful items that are used to level up weapons, tools, armor, and other items. They can be purchased by players from item upgraders NPCs in a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be applied to any weapon or tool using an button, which displays an image of the item when it is upgraded in the event that the player has enough materials.
The cost of upgrading varies based on the slot for the item and the current level of the item. For instance weapons cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain amount and is degraded, it can be sold and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currency types.
Item upgraders can be found in a variety of locations on the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon as well as the possibility of getting a new recipe. The upgrade discount increases with the number of items that are being upgraded. It can also be boosted by requiring players to complete specific achievements or complete quests.
Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no item upgrading upgrader available at the start of Icewind Dale. Instead the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades must be acquired through a variety of means, which is both an improvement and a drawback.
In Season 3, several new features have been added to the upgrade system. When a player has an upgrade to a certain level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading other items to that same item level will cost less even if they belong to an entirely different set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is available across all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievements.
Crests
Players have a variety of options for upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific item level upgrade (Additional Info) level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.
The first thing to remember is that crests are only able to be used to purchase equipment of a particular rank, and that every rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and easiest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade requires up to 20 crests, based on the type or gear that is being upgraded.
Players can obtain crests by finishing content at the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons with all difficulties for higher-tier items or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for gear that is used in the endgame. These crests can be exchanged with an upgrader like Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and pathways.
The new currency system isn't complicated to use, however it does bring some changes to the upgrade process. For example, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This is to allow players to upgrade their gear up to the highest level possible for all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.
It's also crucial to choose crests in a wise manner, as they only have one use. For instance it's a good idea utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests with the Best item upgrade equipment you have and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you plan to create. This is especially applicable to rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character which will only be able to benefit from the account-wide discount when all of the slots are filled with top-quality gear.
