Bedside Crib and Travel Cot

Easy to assemble

They are small and simple to set up, so they can be set next to your bed. They are also lighter, which makes them more transportable. Georgina who was one of the MFM's home testers said that the Maxi-Cosi Lora was "super easy to assemble, with clear instructions and easy zips." This crib can also function as a travel cot and comes with a handy bag for when you're traveling. It has multiple mesh openings for ventilation and its height adjustable allows it to fit on any mattress.

Some cribs with a bedside have a side panel that can be adjusted to lower, allowing you easy access to your baby without having to step out of bed. This is a great option for breastfeeding mums, or those who want to be close to their child throughout the night, but don't want to risk co-sleeping (which is linked to an increased risk of SIDS).

Many models come with built-in functions that allow you to rock your baby. This can be extremely soothing for your baby, and can help them sleep. Some cribs offer a recline position that can be beneficial if your baby suffers from reflux or colic. It is best to use them under supervision. A GP or health visitor is recommended prior to attempting this position.

In addition, there's an integrated reflux setting as well as a 360 swivel to allow you to rotate the crib to accommodate your baby's position.

If you're looking for something a little smaller, the Tutti Bambini CoZee is another stylish choice with oak legs and stylish fabric options to complement your decor. It's also super-easy to assemble - Georgina who took part in our MFM tests assembled it quickly and didn't even need to read the instructions. It's also a great travel cot. It folds flat and can be easily stuffed into a bag.

The Next2me Magic, which was shortlisted for the Best Cot, Crib or Moses Basket at the 2021 Mother&Baby Awards, is also on the larger side but is still relatively small and easy to put into your bed. Georgina found it straightforward to put together, however she was not convinced that the zips could have been more clearly explained on the instruction sheet.

Easy to clean

If you're looking at travel cots or bedside cot crib cribs be sure to look for models that come with a mattress cover that is machine-washable. This will keep it clean and free of dribbles, spit-up, and leaky diapers. It's also a good idea to select a model that can be disassembled and dismantled in parts, so that you can access every nook and cranny to conduct a thorough cleaning and sanitising session.

This is crucial, as it will ensure that all germs and dirt have been eliminated. Make sure that the sides of the crib are securely attached so that your baby cannot fall off or be trapped.
