World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to boost the stats of an Best item upgrade. Based on the type of upgrade item, it may increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity, and also boost other stats.

Each item has a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a certain amount.

Item Level

When an item gets upgraded, its basic stats improve in value. The value is the sum of all of its leveled up advantages (attack, magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive, depending on who you hire and what you do. This is due to the sheer number of perks that must be modified to upgrade an item.

It is also used to enforce gating requirements when waiting for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It also serves as a gating requirement while waiting to queue for dungeons and scenarios and raids, and to limit the amount of PvP gear that a player can wear (since PvP is restricted to the lower levels). The average item level can be found in the character sheet.

Using the item level will allow players to compare the strength of equipment when choosing to buy or sell. It's an indicator of the damage and quality. Comparing items in the inventory of a seller is possible using the level of the item.

The level of the item can be viewed by pressing the ALT key on your PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the complete description of the item, including its value. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are various theories on how the calculation of the item's level is done. One theory says that the level of an item is calculated by formulas that determine the value of an item's stats actually are. It considers that different perks are valued differently, and that gems found in sockets increase the value of the item. This process could result in a calculated value for the item's ilvl, which is typically close to Blizzard's actual item level.

This isn't the only factor that affects the ilvl of an item. The level of the area where the item dropped can also alter its stats. For instance it can increase the item's haste or crit score. Items dropped in higher-level instances will have higher ilvl.

Item Stats

The item's stats can determine the fate of an item for players. The game uses them in many ways to encourage players not to limit themselves to a single weapon and to encourage players to explore other weapons. The stat modifications of an weapon increase the base stats. These stat mods are then boosted by the player's level.

Upgrades to an item can boost its stats. The rarity of an item determines its upgrade cost. An item that is white or grey for instance, will only be upgraded once, while an item with rare tiers may be upgraded multiple times with higher prices.

Affixes are another way to alter the stats of an item. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and come in a variety of sizes and shapes. The affixes could be used to give the item additional damage, or add a unique capability to the item (such as reviving dead or reducing cooldowns), or make the item unique by putting an additional name to the item.

Currently, all affixes can be modified by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button with circling arrows. This process will cost the player a specific amount of gold and other items that can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as the other rerolling options.

Players can choose to upgrade an item to specific stats or reroll attaches. The range of stats determined by the item's level. However each item will include at least one stat within the same range, unless it's a unique item or the item is a God Roll from a raid boss.

This is another thing that could be changed by adding the option to upgrade the equipment without rerolling the affixes or choosing which stats to boost. However, as with the base equipment, this would have to be performed on a per-item basis and the interface for comparing items would not display all the possible stats gained or lost at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player can increase the likelihood of locating items, the properties that are spawned by loot and the intensity of these properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It simply gives the player a chance to upgrade their equipment in earlier waves, and is therefore more useful in the early game as opposed to later ones, as most players prioritize greater weapon scaling and defense over the raw damage gain.

In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the chance of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chance, which increases with each item upgrade level and can be further increased by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons can be created or spawned using the Luck property, with the default value of 40. These items can be improved with golden ingots, or spined leather (depending on the type of material) to increase the value of 40 luck or to increase an item's existing Luck up to 140.

Moreover there are certain items, like the Hollow weapon, which is infused with Hollow can be used to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by five percent. These items are available in the shop or created by using the appropriate ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades are successful. However, there are cash shop items that allow players to boost their success rate or prevent them from losing an item if the upgrade is unsuccessful.

The success rate of an upgrade can be seen in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the likelihood of successfully upgrading an item. This can be increased by using Additional Materials or Special materials. There are limits to how much success rates can be increased and the chance of a failed upgrade cannot be greater than 100%..

The success of an item upgrades is also influenced by the luck of the item. Every item upgrade has an average success rate of 25% and every item that has Luck increases that chance by an additional five percent.

It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the items in the inventory which means that enchantment glints and other effects may be masked by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
