The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention, and will leave your floors clean. Its price is affordable and its high-end functions (such as dirt detectors) are a plus.

Make sure you regularly inspect your robot's brushes for tangled hair as well as large debris, and wash them when required. Some models also self-empty their onboard dustbin into a larger one at the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobot models (including the top-rated model) they employ smart mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also come with carpet boost, a feature which boosts the robot's power when it spots a lot of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests of floors with no carpet They are also adept at cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's therefore prone to getting stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.

It's still a great deal, especially if your office or home has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save money. It's also quiet and operates while you are at work or school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle however. If you want to, you can swap the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a compact, sleek package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features self-emptying dustbins as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets, but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time to provide better cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and set up zones with the well-designed app. Its battery life is average compared to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mop. This can help avoid cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach beneath furniture with low levels and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete an entire house, finishing with 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a great job of cleaning a mix of floors and rooms with mixed flooring types, including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was excellent, and it avoided fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums this feature, which hasn't been seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competitors' boxy units this mop and robot vacuum is among the most appealing looking in our evaluations. iRobot's latest flagship model also is its most advanced, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to a combination high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot hoover and mop we tested that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and it boasts its own self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with a simple mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This could be a concern in the mornings before work or at night when you are trying to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, although it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are similarly capable and more attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however it will cost you more and create more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take the care of vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically empty the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot cleaner with mop utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection but this was not foolproof in our testing and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home in accordance with how dirty they are.

For larger houses it's worth looking for models with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a specific area of your home via the app or voice controls. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have large furniture. For families that are busy, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be very useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you would imagine from its price. It has a great vacuuming performance, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using only one pad and a reciprocating movement which is cleaner than the majority of the robot mop cleaners that we've examined. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying base that can be washed.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or set up an automatic spot-clean. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas for better performance. The app also grants access to many features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. It also has the ability to set up a spot cleaning that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like cute little eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it's more likely to get stuck on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuum uk vacuums that we've tested. It also has an app that's less intuitive and has a tiny base station that can't double as a bin to empty.
