Buying a Pram Newborn

Prams and pushchairs are the multi-functional, flexible companions of caregivers and parents. They are the co-pilots for your child's new journey.

A pram newborn is designed for newborns and babies and has a deep, sturdy carrycot with soft and safe walls.

A pram is equipped with a bassinet. However, it can also be converted into a stroller if the baby is ready.

Safety

Newborns must be protected as much as possible. A stroller or pram with safety features will ensure that your baby is in a safe and comfortable environment during travel. A stroller or pram must include a break that is working and a 5-point harness (2 shoulder straps; 2 waist straps; and an e-crotch belt) and a wrist tether for the person driving it. Be sure that the model you are considering meets these standards before you buy.

Find a pram that allows your baby to ride in the position recommended for lying flat. This position is supportive for the baby and helps prevent an unintentionally dangerous spinal curve that could cause spinal issues. By keeping the airways open, it reduces the chance of SUID (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome or Asphyxiation). Most prams that are used from birth will include the seat unit, which will recline to a lay-flat pram mode for infants and convert into a twin pushchair (reiner-Cnc.ru) seat unit for older children.

The suspension of the pram will determine how smooth it runs. A pram that has a lot of suspension is likely to be more expensive but it could be worth paying for this feature if you are planning on using your pram everyday for a few years or longer.

Always read the directions and read the warning labels on your stroller or pram. You should also make sure that your pram is parked in a safe location away from traffic, bicycles or any other potential hazards when it isn't being used. It is recommended to remove any bags or items off the handles, as they could cause your baby to become trapped or even die.

Even if the baby is asleep, it's not a good idea to leave a stroller or pram unattended. They could wiggle and get trapped or the pram could be thrown away and the child could be injured. It is also not recommended to hang bags or other things on the handles since they could fall and hit your baby's head.

Comfort

It is essential that newborns have the option of lying flat, as it aids in lung and back development. Cocoons or carrycots are found on many prams. They create a nest-like space that is comfortable for your baby and can be detached easily from the frame. Others, such as the egg2's bucket-style seat don't recline to lie flat but still offer a comfortable ride for your baby.

Some prams also have a separate bassinet, newborn stroller or inset seat so that you can easily switch between sleeping and sitting modes based on your baby's requirements. This is often referred to as a "travel system" and is the initial option to try out with your newborn.

Look for a pram with two shoulder straps (ideally with padding) and a five-point safety harness that fits your bub's body securely. Be sure that there aren't any gaps or loose areas in which fingers can get caught and that the buckles are simple to use, particularly for older children. Also, consider if you'd like a pram that is oriented towards parents. It is great to keep an eye on your child and makes them feel more secure by being able to see their parents.

Some prams, such as the Graco Near2Me, come with an awesome raise and lower feature that brings your baby close to your face with the push of a button, which our parent testers absolutely loved! This is a great method of keeping eye contact with your baby and stay in touch, especially when they're asleep. If you are seeking a travel system compatible with the car capsule you choose, you will not have to wake your baby up to switch between the car and pram.

Convenience

It is important to consider the needs of your baby's transportation when buying a newborn pram. Some prams come with a bassinet or carrycot, which allows your baby to lay flat (essential for their development of their spine and breathing) while others have seats that recline to a lie-flat position. It is important to look at what other accessories are included in the pram, such as the footmuff and changing bag that are essential to keep your baby warm during colder months.

It's worth noting that certain strollers and prams can be transformed into travel pram systems, which allows you to connect a car capsule to the frame via adaptors to allow you to easily transfer your baby between the car and the double pushchair without having to awake them. These are useful for those who live a hectic lifestyle or you don't have enough space in your car boot to fit the pram. However, you should be aware that you'll need to wait until your child is old enough to sit up on their own before you change them from a car capsule to the pushchair stroller.

Another feature you may want to consider is the possibility of raising and lowering the infant's seat from a low to high setting, which helps maintain eye contact with them and keeps them close to you, something that our parent facing pram tester found was very useful for her 10-month old boy! One good example is the Graco Near2Me, which can lower to allow your little one to 'glide towards you by pressing a button and stay in constant eye contact.

Make sure that your newborn pram has a solid base and wheels that are able to handle bumps and potholes and that you can fold it down with ease and make sure the safety harness is in good working order and fits comfortably (five-point rather than three-point) and can be adjusted as your child grows. You should also be able to put your shopping bags and changing bags in the basket underneath (although be aware that putting on excessive weight can cause it to tip over). If you're not sure which model to go with, try out a variety of models at your local store.
