10 Things We All We Hate About Robots That Vacuum And Mop
Robots That Vacuum and Mop
Robots that automatic vacuum and mop and clean offer the convenience of cleaning dry debris and wet mess in one go and without the need to switch between devices. They also can save space compared to two separate units, particularly in smaller living spaces.
A good combination bot must be able to navigate well and have excellent obstacle avoidance. Look for models that have docks that let them automatically empty their bins, replenish their water tanks and machine-wash the mopping pads.
1. Eufy S1 Pro
It's one of the easiest robots to install that we've tested. Unpacking is easy and the quick-start manual can get you up and running in no time. It comes with a full dust bag, water tank and a hard floor solution.
The S1 Pro is a powerful little machine that mops up a storm and also vacuums well. The mops are spun at a high speed and utilize 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to swiftly get rid of pet hair, dirt and sticky dried spills. The vacuum cleaner has four power settings, as well as a selection of attachments and brushes and an intuitive app that lets you choose the type of cleaning you'd like for each room.
For example, you can decide to let the robot do a deep clean in the living and kitchen but be careful with the spare bedroom. The S1 Pro's front colision sensors and smart navigation technology are also excellent as the robot is capable of detecting tiny obstacles that other models have difficulty overcoming. Its only issue is that the robot tends to crash into walls and objects at full speed. However an inspection of the history of cleaning in the app will show you precisely what the robot has done, where it is going, and which obstacles he has run into or avoided.
A handy LCD screen on the docking station shows the maintenance tasks that are required including emptying the debris tray and washing the water tank that is dirty. It's also capable of mixing detergent automatically into the water tank, with a 600ml bottle of Eufy's own solution.
Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop have plenty of run-time as well, with the mop being capable of operating for up to 184 minutes in quiet mode and the vacuum capable of running for 136 minutes in normal mode, before having to recharge or return to the base to replenish. And you can see the entire cleaning information in the app, which is well laid out and easily understood, though we would have liked to be able distinguish between a vacuum and mop and vacuum clean when examining a cleaned area in the history of cleaning.
2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the most recent version of the company's top robot vacuum and mop. It's not like the model from last year this one has a double agitator in its mopping pad which greatly improves carpet cleaning abilities. The S8 Pro Ultra also has enhanced suction power, which allows it to remove fine hairs and other debris that other robotic hoovers cleaners might be unable to pick up.
As with the other two Roborock models I've tried, this one has reactive 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology that help to avoid furniture, walls and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further and incorporates dual cameras that can detect objects, determining if they're walls or other surfaces. It can then automatically change its path and clean the objects without a pause.
It's the most expensive robot I've ever tested, but it also has the most features. Its sleek and angular design is striking and only has three physical buttons. The power button, which restarts the cleaning process, a mop button that doubles as a child-lock, and a home-button to bring the robot to its dock. Lifting the hinged lid reveals 350ml of dust bin and 200ml water tank. The water tank is self-emptying and the bin is auto vacuum and mop-filling.
The only drawback I could find with this model was that the VibraRise mop pads mount is not removable. You can replace the mopping cloth when needed, but it's difficult to remove the mount to wash it manually. I've observed that any soft carpet that the robot passes will come into contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener system on the mount, and can cause scratches.
The S8 Pro Ultra has a variety of smart features, including support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. The Roborock app is where you can manage and configure these advanced features. It also includes maps and advanced mopping options. The app also allows you to schedule cleanings and monitor the life of batteries and maintenance on components. But you'll need to jump through a few hoops to enable voice control with this model which is unfortunate considering how well it performs otherwise.
3. Dreame X40
The Dreame X40 robot vacuum and mop is an industry leader with innovative features, superior suction power, and advanced mowing abilities. Its smart design allows you to personalize and efficiently clean while saving time.
The X40 robot vacuum cleaner is the first to offer 12,000 Pascals cleaning power. It is among the most powerful choices available. This powerful vacuum is able to clean up pet hair, crumbs and other dry messes. It comes with a mop that is top quality that cleans hard floors without the use of a pad. The X40 is also very quiet when in operation with only occasional bursts during mode changes or self-maintenance.
Another standout feature is the X40's expandable and liftable side brushes, that allows it to reach hard-to-reach corners and intimately clean curved furniture like table and chair legs. The robot is also able to reach under low-profile furnishings which makes it a great choice for small apartments or condos. The side brush automatically tilts down when it detects wet spots. This is a nice feature that helps the X40 to avoid causing damage to floors through the frequent back-and-forth movement.
Unlike some other robots that only focus on one task, the X40 can perform mopping and vacuuming at the same time or separately. It can be programmed to mop only the hard floors and not skip carpeted areas, and vice versa. It can be controlled through the Dreame app or with Alexa, Siri, and Google Home for smooth voice-controlled operation.
The app is simple to use and intuitive The X40 is equipped with many clever features that are simple to install. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, adjust suction power and mode, view floor plans and mapping, and manage mopping settings. The X40 can also track its progress and inform you when it's finished.
The X40 is easy to keep clean and has many features that make it an excellent choice for busy families. Its docking station automatically empties the dustbin into a huge 3.2 L bin, washes the mop pads, and refills them with clean water and a cleaning solution. It also can detect the moment when the mop pad has reached its capacity to the max and alert you to the situation before it spills.
4. L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a high-end robot that's one of the most expensive available however, it comes with a lot of extra features that set it apart. Smart DuoScrub, a new feature on its mops, uses two high-speed mop heads to scrub floors more thoroughly. It also has a maximum suction force of 7,000Pa. This is more than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra and Ecovacs Deebots T20 Omni. It can also remove pet hair, dirt particles and pick up spills and dirty spots.
The mop is also cleaned and dried inside the base station after every use. This is a great feature as it keeps mould and unpleasant odours from building up in storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient. This is a feature that we haven't seen before on other robot mop or vacuum models. It could be a great method to keep your home clean longer.
There's a wealth of settings on offer that include the possibility to schedule cleaning appointments and alter a variety of preferences. These can be set via the app or there are direct buttons on the unit itself. The app is simple to use and offers a variety of options for customizing your cleaning routine. It also has many functions that are not available on other robots, for instance the Clean Genius Mode, which automatically increases suction when it detects dust particles.
The L20 Ultra has a stylish design that has a white-and-metallic look that looks sophisticated and classy. It is a little heavier at 4kg than some of the other robots on this list however it's not excessively heavy. It feels solid and well-constructed. The mopping system is well designed, and the double rotating mop is a great choice for hard floors or in corners. They can also extend to 2mm baseboards thanks to the MopExtend feature, which is a nice feature.
